Abstract: The present invention relates to curable compositions comprising at least one compound of the formula (1): wherein R is C1-C10 alkyl, and R1-R10 each are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-C10 alkyl, with the proviso that at least one of R1-R10 is alkyl, and wherein the substitution patterns formed by the residues R1-R5 and R6-R10 on each of the aromatic rings are different from each other, cured compositions obtained from such curable compositions, mixtures of compounds of the formula (I), the use of such compounds and mixtures of such compounds as a UV stabilizer in curable compositions, and a process for the manufacture of curable compositions comprising a UV stabilizer of the formula (1).

Abstract: There is provided herein a method for the manufacture of alkoxysilyl-containing thiocarboxylic acid ester which comprises reacting a thioester with a mercapto-functional alkoxysilane and/or an alkali metal salt, an alkaline earth metal salt, a trisubstituted ammonium salt of an alkoxysilyl-functional thiolate which uses economical and readily available reagents, avoids the use of phosgene or thionyl chloride reagents and produces byproducts that may be recycled.

Abstract: An alkoxysilyl-containing polyurethane polymer composition is prepared using a urethane-forming organometallic catalyst which is then stabilized to moisture exposure by the addition of a mercapto-containing compound. The stabilized moisture-curable alkoxsilyl-containing polyurethane polymer composition is activated to moisture curing by the addition of a hydrolysis and condensation catalysts. The stabilized moisture-curable alkoxsilyl-containing polyurethane polymer composition is useful as a component in the preparation of coatings, adhesives, sealants, consumer goods and industrial goods.

Abstract: A process for producing a silylated product comprises reacting a mixture comprising (a) an unsaturated compound containing at least one unsaturated functional group, (b) a silyl hydride containing at least one silylhydride functional group, and (c) a catalyst, optionally in the presence of a solvent, to produce a dehydrogenative silylated product, a hydrosilylated product, or a combination of a dehydrogenative silylated product and a hydrosilylated product, wherein the catalyst is chosen from a pyridine diimine cobalt dicarboxylate complex or a cobalt carboxylate compound, and the process is conducted without pre-activating the catalyst via a reducing agent and/or without an initiator or promoter compound. The present catalysts have been found to be active in the presence of the silyl hydride employed in the silylation reaction.
