Abstract: A method of preparing a crystalline copper-based coordination polymer comprises preparing a mixture of copper ions and a first quaternized carboxylate pyridyl ligand; adding a second polypyridyl ligand; and forming crystals of a copper-based coordination polymer therefrom. The crystalline copper-based coordination polymer is suitable for providing a sensing platform for detecting the presence of one or more target nucleic acid sequences such as viral RNA, in particular Dengue virus and/or Zika virus RNA with high selectivity and high specificity. A method of detecting at least a first target nucleic acid sequence, in particular from a viral RNA, in particular it is Flavivirus RNA, in a sample is also provided. Further provided is a kit including the crystalline copper-based coordination polymer and an oligonucleotide probe.

Abstract: A method for reducing abnormalities in lipid metabolism and for reducing inflammation in a subject suffering from an autoimmune inflammatory disease accompanied by abnormalities in lipid metabolism includes administering an effective amount of a flavonolignan to the subject. Still further provided is a method for reducing liver damages associated with the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug or a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Abstract: A method for implementing a packet I/O engine on a programmable computing platform is provided, where the engine performs I/O functions for plural threads generated by a plurality of user applications. In the method, the platform is configured such that only one thread is permitted to initialize and configure the resources. Furthermore, I/O-device queues each for buffering packets either transmitted to or received from an individual external I/O device are set up. For a plurality of unsafe I/O-device queues determined, among the I/O-device queues, to be multi-thread unsafe, a plurality of multi-producer, multi-consumer software queues for buffering packets delivered between the plurality of the unsafe I/O-device queues and the plurality of user applications is set up. In particular, the plurality of multi-producer, multi-consumer software queues is configured such that the unsafe I/O-device queues are collectively synchronized to maintain data consistency in packet delivery in the presence of multiple threads.

Abstract: A method executed by a computer system to construct an omnidirectional roughness (OR) map of a lunar crater based on a data set of a digital elevation model (DEM) of surface textures of the lunar crater is provided. The method includes setting a center and a first point of the data set, selecting a moving window, utilizing a one point-to-point step when the moving window slides over the DEM, calculating a morphological surface roughness (MSR) that detects a vertical roughness of the lunar crater, calculating a topographic frequency coefficient (TFC) that detects a horizontal roughness of the lunar crater, constructing the OR map, and displaying the OR map to show a surface roughness of the lunar crater.

Abstract: A computer system that execute a method to stitch satellite images into a wide-angle image. The method includes dividing each of the satellite images into plural subimages, determining whether the subimages include an overlap area that overlaps with adjacent subimages, obtaining cropped subimages by removing the overlap area from the subimages, generating preprocessed satellite images each including the cropped subimages, selecting a reference image and a target image from the preprocessed satellite images, determining plural correspondent pairs in an overlap region between the reference and target images based on a feature matching algorithm, obtaining a transformation matrix by a least-squares algorithm and based on coordinates of the correspondent pairs, obtaining calibrated coordinates for each pixel of the target image by applying the transformation matrix, and stitching the target images into the wide-angle image based on the calibrated coordinates of the target image.

Abstract: A method for optimizing throughput of a network with stations adapted to transmit data to an access point includes the step of determining a respective required throughput for each station based on: respective time periods required for decreasing a count of a respective back-off counter associated with each of the stations, a transmission packet length of the respective station, and a probability of successful transmission for of the respective station. The respective required throughput so determined is a function of a respective transmission attempt rate for the station. The method further includes the step of determining the respective transmission attempt rate for each station for maximizing a sum of the respective required throughput such that a respective fixed throughput is provided for inelastic data flow in the network, a respective proportional throughput ratio is provided for elastic data flow in the network, and the throughput of the network is maximized.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for treatment of a RAS-positive disease, in particular KRAS-positive non-small cell lung cancer as well as a method for potentiating the apoptotic activity of a PDEδ inhibitor by combining the PDEδ inhibitor with a direct autophagy inhibitor. The PDEδ inhibitor is preferably, but not exclusively, deltarasin, and the direct autophagy inhibitor is in particular 3-methyladenine. Further provided by the present invention are a kit and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the PDEδ inhibitor and a direct autophagy inhibitor. The methods of the present invention in particular provide a new treatment option for RAS-positive diseases such as KRAS-positive non-small cell lung cancer allowing for an increased apoptotic activity of the PDEδ inhibitor by simultaneously blocking its “tumor protective” autophagy.
