Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding a modulation code are provided. The method includes: adding an error detection bit(s) to source information; performing k-constraint coding by inserting an error pattern that can be detected using an error detection code into a data stream that violates a k-constraint for a run length limited (RLL) code in a data stream comprising the error detection bit(s) and the source information, and recording the data stream after being k-constraint coded onto a recording medium; and reading the data stream recorded onto the recording medium and determining whether an error is present in the data stream.
Abstract:
In an error correction method, a codeword is transmitted through a noisy communication channel and detected by a receiving device. An error detection code is then applied to the detected codeword to generate a syndrome. Where the syndrome is not all zero, the codeword is determined to contain some error. Accordingly, the method computes a set of potential error start positions for a plurality of error events based on a syndrome value corresponding to the syndrome. Next, a confidence value is computed for each of the plurality of error events at each of the potential error start positions in the refined set, and finally, a most likely error event in the detected codeword is corrected based on an error event and corresponding potential error start position having the highest confidence value.

An air conditioner capable of dehumidifying a space where an indoor unit is installed and even a space where an outdoor unit is installed is disclosed. The air conditioner includes a compressor for compressing refrigerant, an outdoor heat-exchanger including a first and a second heat-exchangers for performing heat-exchange of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor, a first decompression device installed at a pipe through which the refrigerant discharged from the outdoor heat-exchanger passes, an indoor heat-exchanger for performing heat-exchange of the refrigerant discharged from the outdoor heat-exchanger, a second decompression device installed at a pipe connected to the first and the second heat-exchangers, and a first two-way valve installed at a pipe for refrigerant to bypass the second decompression device.

A vacuum cleaner having a discharge flow path, which reduces noise generated due to resistance of the flow path, and by a motor. The vacuum cleaner includes a body, a blower fan unit including a blower fan and a motor to generate suction force in the body, an inner case surrounding the blower fan unit and having an inner flow path formed therein, an outer case surrounding the inner case, and a discharge flow path formed between the inner case and the outer case to communicate with the inner flow path. The discharge flow path including a circulation flow path branched from the inner flow path to guide air discharged from the blower fan unit, and a bent flow path branched from the inner flow path to guide the air discharged from the blower fan unit, the air is thereby bent a number of times in the bent flow path.

An optical transceiver case is provided. The optical transceiver case has an optical transmission/reception device and a PCB that operates the optical transmission/reception device. The optical transceiver case includes a lower plate and an upper plate. The lower plate supports the optical transmission/reception device and the printed circuit board, and includes handle grooves formed on both external sides of the lower plate to allow the optical transceiver case to be mounted/detached to/from an optical transmission/reception system's board. The upper plate is coupled to the lower plate to mount the optical transmission/reception device and the printed circuit board, and includes a protuberance embossed on an external upper surface of the upper plate in order to discharge heat generated from the optical transmission/reception device and the PCB to the outside. The optical transceiver case is easily mounted detached to/from on optical transmission/reception system's board and maintains a constant internal temperature.
Abstract:
A drum type washing machine reducing damage of a shaft system, and a method for assembling the shaft system are disclosed. The shaft system comprises a flange shaft coupled to a rear side of the drum to transmit the rotational force of the motor to the drum. A buffering material is provided between the drum and the flange shaft to distribute or absorb load or vibration transmitted from the drum to the flange shaft. The buffering material comprises a material having a liquid phase initially and changing to a solid phase having elasticity a predetermined period of time after contacting air. The buffering material is applied to a rear side of the drum or to a rear side of the shaft flange when assembling the shaft system.

An error correction decoding method and apparatus are provided. The error correction decoding method involves (a) outputting data corresponding to input codewords by referring to a lookup table, which stores data of a predetermined size and corresponding codewords; (b) outputting predetermined error values if there are no matches for the input codewords in the lookup table; (c) forming an error correction block by arraying the data output in step (a) or the error values output in step (b); and (d) performing an error correction decoding process, without allowing codes constituting the error correction block to exchange erasure information with one another, by referring to locations of the error values in the error correction block and the number of errors in the error correction block.

In the air inlet structure, a base defines an air inlet, a front cabinet is disposed in front of the base and defines a suction hole to pass ambient air into the base, a cooling fan is stably disposed in the base to suck the ambient air, a blower tube forms a flow passage for the ambient air, a blower cover is fixed to the base to connect the blower tube and the cooling fan, and an air guide is disposed between the base and the blower cover, the air guide having a shroud at a center portion.
