摘要： Correction for color fog is securely achieved with limited load of processing. The RGB image data are converted into the luminance Y and the chromaticity values C1, C2, then a highlight point and a shadow point are determined and are connected to define the axis of the color solid. The color solid is rotated so as that the axis becomes parallel to the luminance axis Y and is so translated in parallel manner that the pixel of the minimum luminance coincides with the original point of the color space.

摘要： Software of a simple configuration checks whether an original image to be corrected is an image picture, and an image correction process based upon a formed histogram of the original image is not performed for an image different from the image picture. An image processing condition is set in accordance with the formed histogram to perform the image correction process for the original image. An image processing method judges from a shape of the formed histogram whether the original image is an image picture, and does not perform not perform the image correction process for the original image if it is judged that the original image is not an image picture.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus is provided which can detect ink in a print head highly precisely with a simple construction. The apparatus includes: a detection electrode to detect, through the ink on the ink jet print head board, a voltage change between print elements and drive elements which is produced as the print elements are driven; a periodical driver to drive the print elements at a predetermined drive frequency; a voltage detector to periodically detect an output voltage of the detection electrode at a timing corresponding to the drive frequency; and a state check device to check an ink ejection state of the ink jet print head according to a result of the detection by the voltage detector.

摘要： An ink-jet recording apparatus, using an ink-jet head for ejecting ink supplied from an ink tank for storing ink and performing recording by ejecting ink from the ink-jet head based on recording data, the ink-jet recording apparatus performing recording by receiving the recording data transferred from a host through a signal line in a state that the ink-jet recording apparatus is connected to the host by the signal line. The apparatus obtains information as to a remaining amount of ink stored in an ink tank and a used amount of the ink-jet head, and stores the information so-obtained. A controller processes recording data transferred from the host and controls recording by the ink-jet head. According to one aspect, the controller transfers information stored in the memory to the host through the signal line according to a command input through the signal line.

摘要： In a correction processing that corrects a color deviation caused by output characteristic variations among print heads of a printing apparatus, the printing apparatus prints a test pattern that allows accurate detection of the color deviation by a visual check. More specifically, each of the patches in the test pattern is made up of two areas placed adjacent to each other. One of the two areas (upper area) is used as a test area for detecting the degree of the color deviation. Of the gradation values of C, M and Y, which make up the patch print data, the gradation values of C and M are changed among the patches making up the test pattern. The other area is used as a reference area printed with an achromatic color that represents a reference gradation value for the deviation detection. The gradation values of C, M, Y and K are determined so that a spatial frequency of dots formed in the reference area of each patch is close to the spatial frequency of the associated test area.

摘要： A printing apparatus and print control method, capable of using plural types of printheads, can achieve high throughput by performing optimized print control in accordance with the type of printhead and the number of printheads used. In a case where the printing apparatus adopting such print control method includes, e.g., four printheads, and performs printing on a print medium by reciprocally scanning the printheads, detection is first performed as to whether only one printhead which discharges black ink is mounted or four printheads which respectively discharge black, yellow, cyan and magenta ink are mounted; decision is made on a printing period of the printhead based on the detected result; then decision is made on a scanning speed of the printhead based on the decided printing period; and the printhead is driven based on the decided printing period and scanning speed to perform printing.

Whether the black image is formed using a black ink or a plurality of color inks C, M, and Y is determined in accordance with the discrimination result. When the black image is formed using the plurality of color inks, it is recorded using a repetitive pattern of two of C, M, and Y so as to prevent blurring with the color image, and to improve fixing characteristics by decreasing the total ejection amount.
