The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving a broadcast signal including signaling information. One embodiment of the present invention may provide a broadcast signal transmission method comprising the steps of: generating a media stream by encoding media data; generating signaling information signaling the media stream; multiplexing the generated media stream and the signaling information; and transmitting a broadcast signal including the multiplexed media stream and the signaling information. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the signaling information may include meta data on the media stream.

The present invention provides an apparatus for receiving a broadcast content via one or more networks. The apparatus comprises a broadcast network interface for receiving a broadcast stream including a first portion of the broadcast content via a broadcast network, a heterogeneity network interface for receiving a heterogeneity stream including a second portion of the broadcast content via a heterogeneity network, and wherein the broadcast stream further includes timeline component access units containing metadata for synchronizing streams transmitted via the one or more networks, and wherein the timeline component access units include timestamp information representing first timestamps for the heterogeneity stream, a processor for configuring the broadcast content using the broadcast stream and the heterogeneity stream based on the timestamp information.

The present invention provides a method for transmitting a broadcast signal. The method for transmitting a broadcast signal according to the present invention supports future broadcast services in an environment supporting future hybrid broadcasting using terrestrial broadcast networks and the Internet. In addition, the present invention provides efficient signaling methods capable of using both terrestrial broadcast networks and the Internet in the environment supporting future hybrid broadcasting.

A broadcast signal transmission apparatus includes a delivery object generator configured to divide a file into at least one delivery object corresponding to a part of the file, a signaling encoder configured to encode signaling information including metadata for the delivery object, the signaling information including real time information indicating whether the at least one delivery object is transmitted in real time via a unidirectional channel using at least one layered coding transport (LCT) packet, and a transmitter configured to transmit the at least one delivery object and the signaling information. It is possible to reduce a total time consumed for obtaining multimedia content and displaying the multimedia content for a user.
