An integrated fluidized bed ash cooler for a fluidized bed boiler, particularly a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler, employs at least two fluidized bed sections positioned in series along a solids flow path. Each section contains fluidizing means, the first section along the solids path being separated from a following section with a threshold. The first section contains means for measuring a bed temperature in the vicinity of the fluidizing means and at a higher elevation within the fluidized bed. Means are provided for removing oversized bed material from the first section to facilitate the removal of ash while minimizing the possibility of ash plugging during operation.

The present invention provides a composite chemical mechanical polishing pad for polishing a semiconductor substrate comprising, a polishing layer having a first compressibility, an intermediate layer having a second compressibility less than the first compressibility and a bottom layer having a third compressibility greater than the second compressibility and less than the first compressibility. The polishing layer has at least a fifty volume percent level of porosity. The present invention provides multi-layered, water-based polishing pad with reduced defectivity and improved polishing performance.

In a method of affecting cleaning or chamber process control to remove residues of fluorinated discharges from internal PECVD chamber hardware during manufacture of a semiconductor or integrated circuit, the improvement of removing the fluorinated discharges without opening the chamber and without causing chamber downtime, comprising: a) maximizing H-atom concentration in a gas mix of a plasma containing H2 through the use of high rf power and low pressure to obtain an in-situ H2 plasma; and b) subjecting a reactor chamber containing build-up residues from previous chamber treatment with a fluorinated plasma, with the in-situ H2 plasma from step a) without opening the chamber and without shutting down the chamber to remove the build-up residues of the fluorinated plasma.

According to an exemplary embodiment, a method and system for facilitating settlement processing within a network of financial institutions may include receiving one or more payment items from a plurality of payment entities, at a centralized agent, wherein the one or more payment items comprise one or more electronic images and paper instruments; aggregating the payment items into one or more categories; identifying a payee financial institution and a payor financial institution for each payment items, wherein the payee financial institution and the payor financial institution are different; determining whether the payee financial institution and the payor financial institution are within the network of financial institutions; for the payee and payor within the network, determining at the centralized agent a settlement path within the network of financial institutions for each payment item; and for the payee and payor that are not within the network, forwarding the payment items to a third party settlement entity by the centralized agent for settlement processing.

A sensor for sensing a parameter such as position, comprises: (i) an excitation winding for example coils (7, 9) in quadrature; (ii) a signal generator (41, 42, 43) operable to generate an excitation signals and arranged to apply the generated excitation signal to the excitation winding; (iii) a sense coil (11) that can be electromagnetically coupled to the excitation winding such that, in response to the excitation signal being applied to the excitation winding by the signal generator, a periodic electric signal is generated in the sense coil that is indicative of the value of the parameter to be measured by the sensor; and (iv) a signal processor (108) operable to process the periodic electric signal generated in the sensor winding to determine a value representative of the parameter being measured. The signal processor may be arranged to generate a second signal (f1) at a frequency slightly different from that of the excitation signal, and to mix the second signal with the signal received from the sense coil to generate a third signal having a frequency component (f0−f1) equal to the difference between the frequency of the excitation signal and that of the second signal. The processing unit then determines the parameter from the phase of the third signal.
