Abstract: A tufted article (e.g., an artificial turf panel) having a backing and a plurality of tufts extending through the backing. The plurality of tufts are distributed among a plurality of patterned regions. Each patterned region has at least one tuft of the plurality of tufts. The tufts of each patterned region differ from the tufts of at least one other patterned region of the tufted article in at least one of color, pile height, yarn type, or yarn density. At least one patterned region creates a longitudinal discontinuity in the color pattern of the tufted article. The tufted article does not have a seam. Complementary side edges of the tufted articles can be secured together to form at least a portion of the surface covering without the need for cutting or the use of inlay components.

Abstract: In one implementation, a footfall detection assembly comprising a sensor underlayment unit and a data analysis device is provided. The sensor underlayment unit comprises a sensor having a unique sensor identifier and a plurality of zones, wherein the sensor is configured to measure zone capacitance in of the plurality of zones, and a processing unit operably connected to the sensor. The processing unit is configured to receive the measured zone capacitance values from the sensor upon the occurrence of a change in measured zone capacitance of the sensor and generate and transmit a data packet comprising at least the unique sensor identifier and measured zone capacitance values upon occurrence of a change in capacitance of at least one of the plurality of zones of the sensor. The data analysis device is configured to receive the data packet, compare the measured zone capacitance values of the data packet to previously-measured zone capacitance values associated with the sensor underlayment into and generate a result therefrom.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a quantifiable playability of a sports surface are disclosed. Test data is included in a test data matrix. A centroid associated with the test data matrix is determined. Distances of data points to the test data matrix are determined. A playability score is calculated as a function of the determined distances.

Abstract: A carpet tile having a greige good, an adhesive layer, and a secondary backing material. The greige good has a primary backing component and a plurality of fibers attached to the primary backing component. The adhesive layer has an adhesive composition and a reinforcement material that is at least partially embedded within the adhesive composition. The adhesive layer is applied to a back surface of the primary backing component. The secondary backing material is adhered to the primary backing component by contact with a portion of the adhesive composition that flows through the reinforcement material. The reinforcement material and the secondary backing material are co-laminated onto the adhesive composition.

Abstract: Solutions to the problems of scuffing and chipping of the paint films in high traffic areas and in tight spaces, such as dressing rooms in department stores, where multiple scrapings of the wall paints are created by consumers, clothes hangers, shoes, etc., and hallways and conference rooms in office and other commercial buildings are disclosed. Wax seeded latex polymers admixed with an added wax in architectural compositions and optionally with polyurethane resin are utilized to create paint films that are resistant to scuffing and chipping.

Abstract: Automatic detection of mechanical defects in piece parts, such as floor covering planks, enables removal of the defective parts off an inspection path. A bypass conveyor system enables defective parts to be transported beyond or around a manual inspection, enabling personnel performing the subsequent inspection to focus on appearance defects. Once the remaining parts have been inspected by a manual process, the parts transported by the bypass conveyor system are returned to the production line. Defective parts may be distinguished by a marking capability that provides the ability to mark according to a variety of classes of defects.
