Abstract:
A milling tool is disclosed. The milling tool may include an elongated body having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of cutting inserts. The cutting inserts may each have a cutting edge and a cutting radius and be coupled to the body and spaced along the longitudinal axis. One or more of the plurality of cutting inserts may be adjustable (e.g., mechanically adjustable) between first and second cutting radii. A difference between the first and second cutting radii may be at least 10 μm. The milling tool may include cutting inserts having a plurality of different cutting radii. The milling tool may be configured to have a length that spans an entire height of an engine bore. The cutting inserts having different radii may compensate for dimensional errors in an engine bore diameter that occur when milling a deep pocket.
Abstract:
A head up display for a vehicle is provided. The head up display comprises: a controller configured to receive a first signal from an entertainment system of the vehicle, the first signal comprising timing information relating to a transition or event of a media content; and an image generator configured to generate an image on the head up display, wherein the size and/or position of the image on the head up display is at least partially determined according to the timing information. A method of generating an image for a head up display of a vehicle is also provided.
Abstract:
A method comprising scanning a first painted surface of a first vehicle having two or more paint layers with a robotic terahertz radiation instrument to obtain a first painted surface thickness data and map for each of the two or more paint layers, comparing the first thickness map to a control map, and adjusting one or more paint application parameters based on a comparison of the first thickness map with the control map for painting a second surface of a second vehicle different than the first vehicle.
Abstract:
The degradation associated with repeated startup and shutdown of solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells comprising PtCo alloy cathode catalysts can be particularly poor. However, a marked and unexpected improvement in durability is observed as a result of incorporating a selectively conducting component in electrical series with the anode components in the fuel cell.
Abstract:
An injection molding system and method of operating the system are disclosed. The system may include a hopper, a barrel configured to receive injection material from the hopper, a screw disposed within the barrel, and a mold defining a mold cavity configured to receive the injection material from the barrel. A pressure-balancing conduit may connect the mold cavity and a rear end of the barrel and be configured to allow air to flow from the mold cavity to the rear end of the barrel. A mold valve may be disposed between the pressure-balancing conduit and the mold cavity and a barrel valve may be disposed between the pressure-balancing conduit and the rear end of the barrel. The method may include opening the mold valve and injecting a material into the mold cavity from the barrel.
Abstract:
A wet on wet coating application method. The method includes contacting a polyol-containing layer including a polyol in an amount of 10 to 70 percent by weight and a isocyanate-catalyst-containing layer including an isocyanate and a catalyst to form a boundary layer between the layers being the reaction product of the polyol and isocyanate catalyzed by the catalyst and carried out at 68° F. to 75° F.
