Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site with negative pressure may comprise a tissue interface comprising a three-dimensional textile of polyester fibers and a polymer coating on the polyester fibers. In some examples, the three-dimensional textile may be a three-dimensional weave of polyester fibers, and the polymer coating may be hydrophobic. In more particular embodiments, the polymer coating may be silicone or polyethylene, for example. The dressing may additionally include a drape disposed over the tissue interface and a port fluidly coupled to the tissue interface through the drape. The tissue interface may be applied over a tissue site, and therapeutic levels of negative pressure may be applied to the tissue site through the tissue interface.

Abstract: A disc pump includes a pump body having a cavity for containing a fluid. The disc pump also includes an actuator adapted to hold an electrostatic charge to cause an oscillatory motion at a drive frequency. The disc pump further includes a conductive plate positioned to face the actuator outside of the cavity and adapted to provide an electric field of reversible polarity, the conductive plate being electrically associated with the actuator to cause the actuator to oscillate at the drive frequency in response to reversing the polarity of the electric field. The disc pump further includes a valve disposed in at least one of a first aperture and a second aperture in the pump body. The oscillation of the actuator at the drive frequency causes fluid flow through the first aperture and the second aperture when in use.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for moving fluids from a patient to a canister and lowering or eliminating the bio-burden of the canister. In one instance, a method for removing fluids from a patient includes using reduced pressure to remove fluids from a patient, delivering the fluids into a reduced-pressure conduit and into a fluid reservoir, exposing the fluids removed from the patient to a UV light source to kill pathogens to create disposable fluids, and disposing of the disposable fluids. Other systems, devices, and methods are presented.

Abstract: A dressing may comprise a backing layer having an interior region and a border region around the interior region. A dermal interface may be disposed in the border region. The dermal interface may comprise an adhesive and a therapeutic composition, such as a topical analgesic. The therapeutic composition may be dissolved into the adhesive, and preferably constitutes at least 20 percent of the dermal interface. In some embodiments, the therapeutic composition may comprise at least 30 percent of the dermal interface.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site with negative pressure is described. The dressing includes a tissue interface and a sealing member. The dressing further includes a sealing tape configured to be coupled to the sealing member and epidermis. The sealing tape includes a bonding adhesive and a sealing adhesive coupled to a side of the sealing tape. The sealing tape includes a layer of the bonding adhesive disposed on a film layer and a layer of sealing adhesive having one or more apertures disposed on the bonding adhesive. The sealing tape can include a layer of the bonding adhesive disposed on a portion of a film layer and a layer of the sealing adhesive disposed on a uncovered portions of the film layer.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure to a tissue site are disclosed. Illustrative embodiments may include an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with low-profile distribution components for wound therapy. Such apparatus may include a low-profile dressing interface or connector comprising at least two side-by-side fluid pathways fluidly coupled to a recessed space of the connector, one for providing negative pressure to a tissue interface or manifold and the other for sensing the negative pressure within the recessed space adjacent the tissue interface. In some embodiments, for example, the apparatus may comprise a first layer of polymeric film having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a plurality of features extending from the inner surface, and a second layer of polymeric film coupled to the first layer. The second layer may have an outer, tissue-facing surface and an inner surface coupled to the first layer and covering the plurality of features to form an enclosed space with the inner surface of the first layer and a plurality of flow channels within the enclosed space. The second layer also includes an aperture defining the recessed space adapted to fluidly coupling the enclosed space to the tissue interface.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for debriding a tissue site are described. The system includes a manifold and a cover adapted to form a sealed space over the tissue site for providing negative pressure. The system also includes a debridement tool positioned between the manifold and the tissue site. The debridement tool having a tissue-facing surface and a plurality of holes separated from each other by walls. The walls have transverse surfaces extending between the tissue-facing surface and an opposite surface that form cutting edges. The holes have a perforation shape factor that allows the holes to collapse from a relaxed position to a contracted position in response to the application and removal of negative pressure from the sealed space. The cutting edges debride the tissue site in response to movement between the relaxed position and the contracted position.

Abstract: A fluid delivery system, method, and apparatus for providing instillation therapy with a negative-pressure source is described. The apparatus includes a housing having an ambient chamber and a negative-pressure chamber fluidly isolated from each other. The apparatus also includes a moveable barrier disposed in the housing between the ambient chamber and the negative-pressure chamber. The moveable barrier is operable to move between a charge position and a discharge position in response to negative pressure. A fluid source is disposed in the negative-pressure chamber and is collapsible in response to movement of the moveable barrier to the discharge position. The apparatus also includes a fluid outlet in fluid communication with the fluid source, a negative-pressure port in fluid communication with the negative-pressure chamber and configured to be coupled to a negative-pressure source, and a vent formed in the housing and fluidly coupled to the ambient chamber.
