    摘要: A dynamic prosthetic foot having multiple load points and an anterior/posterior pair of upper sections includes a sole and an upper member. A heel end of the upper member has a gradual ninety degree bend formed in so that it is normal to the sole. An elongate longitudinally-extending slot divides the heel end of the upper member into a lateral, anterior pylon support and a medial, posterior pylon support and further divides the upper member into a lateral upper section and a medial upper section. The lateral, anterior pylon support is thicker than the medial, posterior pylon support and the lateral upper member section is thicker than the medial upper section so that forces applied to the lateral, anterior and medial, posterior pylons are transferred to a greater extent to the medial, posterior pylon. In a second embodiment, elongate pylons supplant the pylon supports.

    摘要: A prosthetic foot includes an adapter element securable to a residual limb, a foot plate having a heel portion and a toe portion along the length thereof, at least one toe spring connected between the adapter element and the toe portion of the foot plate, and a heel spring connected between the adapter element and the heel portion. The heel spring may be a leaf spring or a tube type shock absorber. The concave side of the leaf spring exhibits a plurality of transverse ribs. Alternatively, a tubular pylon may have a collar mounted thereon for movement along the length of the pylon. A toe spring and a heel spring extend from the collar to form toe and heel portions of the prosthetic foot. A further heel spring is connected between the heel portion and another end of the pylon, and a non-extensible band extends between the heel portion and the collar. As another alternative, a tubular pylon has one end securable to a residual limb, and a collar is mounted to the pylon for movement along the length of the pylon. At least one toe spring is connected between the collar and the toe portion of a foot plate, while a heel spring is connected between the heel portion of the foot plate and another end of the pylon.

    摘要: A prosthetic device is provided having a proximal end portion adapted to be secured to an amputee and a distal foot structure. The improvement comprises a pivoting ankle joint disposed between the proximal end portion and the foot structure. This ankle joint includes a matable socket and head assembly interconnecting the proximal end portion and the foot structure for relative movement about a pivot axis between first and second positions. A spring element operates to resiliently bias the socket and head into the first pivot position. A load-sensitive locking mechanism operates, upon the existence of a triggering load which exceeds a predetermined threshold magnitude, to cause the socket and head assembly to lock at a selected locking position, thereby preventing relative pivotal movement. In the absence of the triggering load, relative pivotal movement of the socket and head assembly between the first and second positions is permitted.

The ankle block is formed of compressible material having desired compliance and energy return characteristics. The ankle block is sandwiched between a foot element and an ankle element. One or more spring inserts are embedded inside the ankle block to increase the rigidity of the prosthetic foot and to improve the degree of energy storage and return. The shape of the spring inserts is preferably one that supports compression during relative angular rotation of the ankle plate and foot plate elements, such as during toe and heel roll, and also vertical compression, such as in response to vertical shock loads.
