摘要:
Lubricating oil compositions for residual fuel oil-fuelled diesel engines for marine and stationary applications comprising, or made by admixing: (a) a basestock of lubricating viscosity, in a major amount; and (b) an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible molybdenum compound, in a minor amount; wherein the oil composition has a TBN from 20 to 100 as measured according to ASTM D-2896 and a viscosity at 100° C. in the range from 9 to 30 mm2 s−1 as measured according to ASTM D-445. The lubricating oil compositions of the present invention demonstrate improved cylinder liner wear performance.
摘要:
Lubricant compositions having improved load carrying capacity comprising an extreme pressure compound comprising a sulfur-containing compound, a load carrying capacity enhancing combination comprising a hydrocarbylamine compound and an alkylphosphorothioate compound, a friction modifier compound, and a diluent or base oil as applicable. These lubricant compositions can be used as industrial oils well-suited for the demands of geared device applications, such as in wind turbine gear-boxes and automotive gears and axles.

A marine lubricating oil has a major amount of oil of lubricating viscosity; and a minor amount of an overbased, alkyl oxy benzene sulfonate having a TBN of at least 200. Between 40 wt. % and 80 wt. % of the alkyl group is attached at the 4-position and higher positions of the alkyl group. The oxy group can be hydroxy, methoxy, ethoxy, propoxy, butoxy, pentoxy, or hexoxy.

Grease composition for constant velocity joints comprising a base oil and urea-based thickener, which grease further comprises, (A) from 0.1 to 10% by weight of an optionally substituted molybdenum-organocyclic compound containing at least 5 ring atoms, wherein each ring atom attached directly to the molybdenum atom is a hetero atom, (B) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one sulphur-containing additive chosen from the group consisting of sulphur olefins, sulphur-phosphorus extreme-pressure agents, ashless dithiocarbamates, polysulphides, thiadiazoles and zinc dithiocarbamate, and (C) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one phosphorous-containing additive chosen from the group consisting of molybdenum dithiophosphate, zinc dithiophosphate and triphenylphosphorothionate; a method of lubricating a constant velocity joint comprising packing it with said grease and a constant velocity joint packed with said grease.

Lubricating compositions are described which contain organomolybdenum compounds and sulfur compounds (donors). The copper corrosion of said compositions is reduced by reacting the sulfur donors with plant oils to reduce sulfur activity and thus copper corrosion prior to the sulfur donors being added to the majority of oil to form a lubricating composition.
