Abstract: A reinforced polyolefin composite is provided. The reinforced polyolefin composite comprises a polyolefin such as polyethylene or polypropylene, a rigid fibre micro filler such as glass fiber, carbon or cellulosic fibers, and at least one nano filler such as clay. The reinforced polyolefin composite may also comprise a modified polyolefin, which has a polar functional group such as maleate monoester, an acid anhydride or an acrylate grafted thereon. The clay nano filler may also be modified with an organosilane. The reinforced polyolefin composite may also comprise a stabilizer or other additives. A method of producing the reinforced polyolefin composite is also provided, comprising mixing a polyolefin, a rigid micro filler and at least one nano filler to form a mixture, melting the mixture and kneading the melted mixture. The obtained reinforced polyolefin composite is used in transportation, infrastructure, consumer goods and construction.

Abstract: There is provided a nanocomplex having a core-shell structure. The shell of the nanocomplex comprises a functionalized hyaluronic acid while the core of the nanocomplex comprises a flavonoid encapsulating a metal-containing compound. Preferably, the flavonoid is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and the hyaluronic acid is thiol-functionalized and subsequently conjugated to the flavonoid. There is also provided a method of forming the nanocomplex, a pharmaceutical composition comprising the nanocomplex, medical uses of the nanocomplex and a method of treating a patient, preferably with cancer using the nanocomplex.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of characterising and/or separating neutrophils, the method comprises characterising and/or separating the neutrophils into a first population comprising proliferative neutrophils and a second population comprising mature neutrophils, according to the expression of CD101 on the neutrophils. Abstract: Various embodiments may provide a comparator circuit arrangement. The comparator circuit arrangement may also include a switch circuit arrangement coupled to the preamplifier, the switch circuit arrangement configured to deactivate the preamplifier upon the second input voltage exceeding the first input voltage and further configured to activate the preamplifier upon a fall of the second input voltage, and a pull-up circuit arrangement coupled to the output of the preamplifier, the pull-up circuit arrangement configured to provide a boost voltage to the preamplifier output signal for a predetermined duration upon the fall of the second input voltage.

Abstract: According to the present disclosure, a method of forming an exfoliated or intercalated filler material is provided, wherein the said method comprises the steps of mixing particles of filler material such as montmorillonite (MMT), mica, layered double hydroxide (LDH), and attapulgite (AT) dispersed in an aqueous medium with cationic acrylate monomers to form modified particles comprising positively charged ions, dispersing the modified particles in organic medium to form a dispersion, contacting said dispersion with an organo-silicate such as tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and a functionalizing agent comprising an organo-silane such as aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS), in the presence of a basic catalyst to form a layer of silica on the modified particles. The present disclosure also relates to an exfoliated or intercalated filler material obtained by the said method as well as a method of forming a resin/clay nanocomposite.

Abstract: A column-based device and method for retrieving cells of interest were enclosed. The said device comprises a column comprising (i) an inner wall defining an inner chamber with inlet and outlet openings, (ii) a perforated plug disposed adjacent to the outlet opening, (iii) a sleeve insert with a channel and disposed within the chamber and adjacent to the perforated plug, and (iv) a filtering means housed within sleeve insert sandwiched between two sealing means. In particular, Tumor-derived endothelial cell clusters (TECCs) as characterized multiple nuclei, expression of endothelial markers (PECAM1, VWF and CDH5), and non-expression of leukocyte, megakaryocyte and platelets markers, may be retrieved using the disclosed device. Also encompassed are methods, reagents and kits for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancers by detecting for the presence of TECCs isolated from blood samples using the claimed device.

Abstract: There is provided a method of generating a secret key at a first node for data communication between the first node and a second node. The method includes obtaining a channel estimate of a communication channel between the first and second nodes; obtaining a time-frequency matrix associated with the communication channel based on a time-frequency transformation of the channel estimate; and producing the secret key based on the time-frequency matrix. There is also provided a corresponding key generator for generating a secret key.
