Abstract: A device for providing a reverse pass-through view of a user of a headset display to an onlooker includes an eyepiece comprising an optical surface configured to provide an image to a user on a first side of the optical surface. The device also includes a first camera configured to collect an image of a portion of a face of the user reflected from the optical surface in a first field of view, a display adjacent to the optical surface and configured to project forward an image of the face of the user, and a screen configured to receive light from the display and provide the image of the face of the user to an onlooker.

Abstract: A headset includes multiple pairs of acoustic sensors for capturing audio of a local area surrounding the headset. Each pair of acoustic sensors includes an acoustic sensor on a side of the headset and an additional acoustic sensor on an opposite side of the headset. One pair of acoustic sensors is positioned closer to the ears of a user than other pairs of acoustic sensors. The headset determines a filter for each pair of acoustic sensors that modifies audio captured by the acoustic sensors of a pair. Application of the filter causes audio captured by the pair of acoustic sensors to have sound similar to audio captured at the user's ears. In some embodiments, audio from multiple pairs of acoustic sensors is filtered by corresponding filters then combined.

Abstract: A distributed image signal processing (ISP) system for a head-mounted device reduces the power load on the battery of the head-mounted device. The distributed ISP system includes a Bayer image processing engine, an RGB image processing engine, and a YUV image processing engine. The Bayer image processing engine is operated by, for example, processing logic of the head-mounted device. The Bayer image processing engine provides Bayer image data from raw image data. The YUV image processing engine is operated by, for example, processing logic of a (companion) computing device (e.g., a phone, tablet, laptop, compute puck, personal computer). The computing device is communicatively coupled (e.g., wired or wirelessly) to the head-mounted device to receive image data. The RGB image processing engine may be operated by the head-mounted device or the computing device.

Abstract: An artificial reality environment (XRE) schema is defined that supports controlling interactions between various artificial reality actors. The XRE schema includes a set of definitions for an XRE, independent of type of artificial reality device. The definitions in the XRE schema can include standards for both interfaces and data objects. The XRE schema can define XR elements in terms of entities and components of a space, organized according to a hierarchy. Each entity can represent a real or virtual object or space, within the XRE, defined by a name and a collection of one or more components. Each component (as part of an entity) can define aspects and expose information about the entity. The XRE schema can specify structures that that allow actors (e.g., producers, instantiators, and consumers) to define and perform actions in relation to XRE elements.

Abstract: Implementations augment images with depth information to support hologram display. An edge system can receive, from a source system, images of a user. For example, the images can be two-dimensional images captured by multiple cameras at different perspectives (e.g., stereoscopic images), or single perspective images. The edge system can estimate depth information using the images, for example by processing the images using an engine and one or more machine learning models, and generate depth encoded images. The edge system can then transmit the depth encoded images to a target system, which can ultimately display a hologram of the user using the depth encoded images. Accordingly, implementations can offload, from end-user devices (e.g., the source system and/or target system), hologram workloads to an edge system loaded with an engine and machine learning model(s).

Abstract: A communication system actively monitors a conversation between users in an environment. Once a threshold condition occurs (e.g., client device within a threshold distance of a room where the conversation is occurring, the user enters a chatroom via the client device), the client device receives a summary from the communication system. The communication system may customize the summary in accordance with user preferences. User preferences may include level of detail in summary or time range associated with summary. The client device then presents the summary to the user. The summary may be audio or text. In some embodiments, the summary may be historical audio that is overlaid over current audio at faster speed and higher volume, and stops once the historical audio reaches real time.
