摘要: A crystallized layer can be formed on a substrate from a precursor layer deposited on a surface of the substrate. The precursor layer can be an oxide, a nitride, a carbide, or an oxynitride. The process for forming the crystallized layer includes melting the precursor layer formed on the surface of the substrate by localized topical heating of the precursor layer and then cooling the melted precursor layer so that it crystallized to form a scratch resistant crystallized layer. The scratch resistant crystallized layer can have a hardness of 15 GPa or greater.

摘要: There is described a process for depositing carbon on a surface, comprising, while contacting a mixture of CO2 and Br2 with a polar substrate presenting apposed surfaces, exposing a sufficient area of said mixture in the region of said apposed surfaces to light of sufficient intensity and frequency to result in deposition of carbon on at least some of said apposed surfaces. Other embodiments are also described.

摘要: A method for producing a layer for coating the inner surface of a container and a glass or plastic container obtained by said method, wherein said container is suitable for containing products biocompatible with humans and/or animals. The method includes: forming a solution containing a solvent, water, a molecular precursor comprising alkoxy groups and an acid as a catalyst, mixing said solution to initiate hydrolysis and condensation, applying the resulting solution onto at least one portion of the inner surface of the container, while the solution is in the process of gelling, the resulting applied solution is then dried at a temperature for a predetermined time, before curing. The acid is citric acid, wherein said citric acid is at a concentration of less than 6 mol/l, and in that the solution comprises less than 1.5 units of precursor for each volume unit of acid.

Zirconia coatings, for example, are formed from a solution of zirconium oxychloride octahydrate in an organic, polar, aprotic solvent such as dimethylformamide. Annealed coatings, which optionally include an additive such as graphene, have a low coefficient of friction and can exhibit high hardness and hydrophobicity.

摘要: The present invention is concerned with methods for the deposition of ceramic films on ceramic or metallic surfaces, particularly the deposition of sub-micron thickness ceramic films such as films of stabilised zirconia and doped ceria such as CGO (cerium gadolinium oxide). The present invention is particularly useful in the manufacture of high and intermediate temperature operating fuel cells including solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and also metal supported intermediate temperature SOFC operating in the 450-650° C. range.

摘要: A forming method of a thermal insulation film includes a first step of forming an anode oxidation coating film on an aluminum-based wall surface, the anode oxidation coating film including micro-pores each having a diameter of micrometer-scale and nano-pores each having a diameter of nanometer-scale; and a second step of coating a surface of the anode oxidation coating film with a sealant containing filler to seal at least part of the micro-pores and the nano-pores by the sealant so as to form the thermal insulation film.

摘要: Two-dimensional nanomaterials are produced in a process comprising the steps of (a) providing (a1) a mixture comprising graphene oxide particles, water and at least one cationic surfactant and/or nonionic surfactant or (a2) a mixture comprising graphene particles, at least one solvent useful for solution exfoliation of graphite and at least one cationic surfactant and/or nonionic surfactant, (b) adding at least one sol precursor compound to the mixture from step (a), (c) reacting the mixture from step (b) in a sol/gel process to form gel from the at least one sol precursor compound on the graphene oxide particles or, respectively, the graphene particles, (d) removing the at least one surfactant, and (e) optionally heating the gel-coated graphene oxide particles for at least 1 min to at least 500° C. under inert gas atmosphere to reduce the graphene oxide to graphene.
