Abstract:
An elastic roll member that can be suitably used in OA printers, facsimile machines and in the developing unit and the paper feed unit of an electronic copying machine comprises a shaft member having a circular cross section and an elastic member concentrically attached to the outer periphery of the shaft member. The shaft member is provided with a connecting member which is different in cross section from and larger in diameter than the shaft member along its longitudinal direction, so that by forcing the connecting member into a through-hole provided in the elastic member, the shaft member and the elastic member can be integrally combined. The elastic roll member can be manufactured with ease and at low cost as it requires no complicated adhesion process.
Abstract:
A composite friction feed roll includes one material which feeds fresh paper well and another material which reliably feeds paper which has passed through fusing and has oil on its imaged surface. Such a roll will feed deplex and fresh paper or inserts equally reliably. Suitable material combinations would be silicone rubber which handles fused copies with ease, but has limited life feeding fresh or virgin paper because it collects fibers from fresh paper, and isoprene which is long lived handling fresh paper, but is rapidly contaminated by fuser oil. In the steady state condition, silicone regions will be primarily active in feeding duplexed paper while the isoprene oil contaminated, while in the plain paper feeding case, isoprene regions will be primarily responsible for feeding while the silicone becomes paper debris contaminated.
Abstract:
In an image recording apparatus, a supply magazine and a receive magazine are arranged almost in a row, and a sheet transport path is formed along the periphery of both magazines. A recording sheet, which is taken out of the supply magazine, is once moved to a path whose transport resistance is small, so that the trailing edge of the recording sheet is completely out of the supply magazine. Then, a subscanning operation for image recording is performed along the path whose transport resistance is small.
Abstract:
The silicone rubber obtained by curing in the presence of a platinum-containing catalyst a composition comprising an organopolysiloxane containing a plurality of lower alkenyl radicals and a organohydrogensiloxane consisting essentially of R.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 units, R.sub.2 SiO units, RHSiO units, and RSiO.sub.3/2 units in a specified molar ratio is uniquely suitable as the coating material for the press roll in the fixing assembly of an electrophotographic copier.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a semiconductive rubber foam having a volume resistivity that can be controlled to a practical level and retaining an initial softness (hardness) even after the lapse of time. This semiconductor rubber foam is composed of a molded article obtained by curing and foaming a rubber composition comprising (A) 100 parts by weight of a chlorinated ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber and (B) 10 to 50 parts by weight of carbon black. The volume resistivity of this semiconductive rubber foam has is in the range of from 10.sup.5 to 10.sup.11 .OMEGA.-cm.
Abstract:
An elastic rotatable member, includes an elastic rubber layer, a surface layer of resin formed on the elastic layer, wherein the surface layer is provided by applying resin material together with liquid to a surface of the elastic rubber layer and sintering the resin material by heating the resin material up to a sintering temperature thereof while keeping the elastic rubber layer below its durable temperature, wherein the heating is effected by dielectric heating to heat the resin material up to a higher temperature than that of the rubber layer.
Abstract:
A processing station in an electrophotographic information printer, comprising at least one mechanically movable, preferably rotatable member (19) comprises as a drive for said member (19) an electronic stepping motor (38) which is supplied with drive pulses of a predetermined pulse number and frequency from a motor drive unit (39) which is connected with a program-controlled control unit (35) for operating the stepping motor (38) in an operational sequence for the information printer.
Abstract:
An image formation apparatus has a first feeder for feeding a copy sheet from a container containing a number of copy sheets therein, a second feeder for feeding a copy sheet supplied manually thereto. Both feeders feed the copy sheet to an image formation station, and a scanner exposure-scans an original image to form a copy image, a first detector detects the size of manually supplied copy sheets and a second detector detects the size of the copy sheets in the container, a controller controls the movement of the scanner in accordance with detection by the first and second detectors, so that the scanning stroke length of the scanner is coordinated for the size of the copy sheet manually supplied to the image formation station and supplied from the container.

Abstract:
A composition is described for use on the surface of separating members or devices used in separating superposed sheets. Good sheet separation is obtained without delamination of the sheets when microcellular elastomeric materials having a hardness of at least 25 durometer are used as the surface material of the sheet separating devices. The sheet separating devices having the described surface material, have utility as retarding rolls and abutment members in sheet feeders, such as in xerographic apparatus.
