    摘要: A cab having a wheeled carriage fixed thereto is moved between rails on an elevator car frame and similar rails on a wheeled bogey. The ends of the rails are scarfed in a complimentary fashion so as to provide a temporary half-lap joint between the rails of the bogey and the rails of the car frame. Motion is provided by linear motors having active primaries disposed on the car frame and the bogey and passive secondaries disposed on the cab carriage. Motor control is in response to position signals provided by magnetostrictive linear displacement transducers. The cab carriage includes rollers on vertical axes which contact the insides of the rails for guidance. The cab carriage wheels and rollers are disposed in pairs separated sufficiently so that at least one roller and one wheel of each pair is in contact with a full rail as the carriage crosses the rail joints between the car frame and the bogey. Wheels coated with urethane reduce wheel noise and tapers at the ends of the rails provide smooth rail to rail transitions.

    摘要: The shipping stand includes a cradle assembly mounted upon a frame assembly to which a jet aircraft is securable. The frame assembly includes a plurality of wheels for locomotive capability. A plurality of shock absorbers are operatively engaged between the cradle assembly and frame assembly to provide adequate shock protection to a loaded jet aircraft engine when the shipping stand is configured in a truck transport mode. A plurality of lifting mechanisms selectively raise the cradle assembly to a predetermined height creating gaps between upper transport flanges and lower transport flanges. The gaps correspond to the height of spacers positionable between the flanges in the truck transport mode. To place the shipping stand in an air transport mode, the lifting mechanisms are activated, the spacers are removed from between the flanges and the cradle assembly is lowered to eliminate the gaps between the flanges. Each spacer includes indicia which indicate which mode the shipping stand is configured and further includes an air mode slot and a truck mode slot which cooperates with corresponding mode pins ensuring that the appropriate indicia is viewable when the shipping stand is configured in either the truck transport mode or the air transport mode.

    摘要: An improved facility for supporting the main landing gear assembly and the nose wheel assembly of a commercial jetliner is quickly adjustable so as to be able to accommodate different aircraft models. The facility includes a nose wheel lift platform system that includes an elongated pit, a support platform that is supported in the pit and is adapted to support an aircraft's nose wheel assembly, and a number of spacer blocks for covering portions of the elongated pit that are not covered by the support platform. The support platform is mounted on a trolley which is equipped to move the support platform up or down as well as lengthwise along the pit. The spacer blocks are slidable along the upper opening of the pit. By moving the trolley beneath a spacer block and engaging the spacer block with the support platform, an operator can move the spacer blocks with the support platform. Accordingly, an operator wishing to reposition the support platform to accommodate a certain type of aircraft may quickly and conveniently reposition the spacer blocks to expose the intended new location of the support platform, and cover the position that was left exposed, prior to moving the support platform to its new location.

    摘要: The present invention features a method and an apparatus for preventing lift chains from becoming slack in a lift truck with a "man-up" feature installed. Lift trucks are generally those vehicles that feature hydraulically controlled lift masts with a chain supported fork carriage. Operators of these lift vehicles with the remote lift and lower feature are generally lifted and lowered by these masts, known in the trade as a "man-up" condition. It is quite desirable to prevent a slack chain condition in the man-up mast position. The invention features a pressure transducer for monitoring a drop in hydraulic fluid pressure established by the flow control valve that regulates the lowering speed of the mast during the remote mode, i.e., when the fork carriage is being lowered by the operator in the platform attached to the fork carriage. The invention turns off the normally closed load-holding valve when the hydraulic pressure drops below a predetermined value, which stops the flow of hydraulic fluid back into the reservoir. This, in turn, stops the cylinder(s) from lowering and keeps the fork carriage lift chains from becoming slack.

An internal compression spring maintains the rod extended except when over loading by hydraulic pressure. A second rod is secured to the cylinder and is releasably coupled to the second wheel.

    摘要: A novel vertical drive assembly for a storage and retrieval vehicle wherein a cable drive motor is horizontally juxtaposed between a lift cable winding and unwinding drum. The vertical drive assembly is modularly assembled on a frame and is attachable and detachable from the vehicle as a unit. The vertical drive assembly comprises, in seriatim, the motor, a belt drive sprocket wheel, a drive belt, a belt driven sprocket wheel, and, juxtaposed and on the same axis as the driven sprocket wheel, an input adapter, a speed reducer, and the drum. The motor is attached to the frame by jacks used to raise and lower the motor to adjust tension in the belt. To stay within the width of the vehicle, the input adapter and speed reducer are at least partly disposed within the core of the drum with the speed reducer providing a bearing for the drum. To reduce starting inertia, sprocket wheels are fabricated from lightweight material. Drum supports comprise louvered blades to induce air flow over the speed reducer when the drum rotates. In one embodiment, a concentric disc, spring actuated, electrically-released brake is mounted on the axis of the motor when the length of the combination motor and brake is less than the width of the vehicle. In another embodiment, a disc brake comprising pneumatic release and spring actuation is juxtaposed between the driven sprocket wheel and the input adapter. Interlocks prevent the vehicle from operating when air pressure is below a predetermined level.
