    Abstract: A method of prompting impulse purchases includes detecting a position of a customer at an impulse purchase location via an impulse purchase prompt initiator, automatically transmitting, via the impulse purchase prompt initiator, an impulse purchase prompt to the customer, fulfilling, in near-real time, an impulse purchase request transmitted by the customer in response to the impulse purchase prompt via the impulse purchase prompt initiator automatically sending a signal to a communications module of an automated locker, and automatically opening the at least one storage compartment and dispensing a product associated with the impulse purchase. The automated locker includes storage that is temperature controlled so as to lower a temperature of the product, and the impulse purchase prompt is only automatically transmitted in response to the temperature of the product being equal to or less than a predetermined temperature.

    Abstract: A retorted gluten-free pasta product that survives retort may be formed by preparing a dry mix that includes (a) a gluten-free flour that includes (i) a non-cereal flour or pulse flour, (ii) a cereal flour, or (iii) mixtures thereof, (b) a starch, and (c) an emulsifier. The dry mix may be combined with water to form a dough that can be extruded at a temperature and with an amount of mechanical energy effective to form an extruded pasta product having a bi-continuous matrix of protein and starch. The pasta product can be incorporated with a sauce into a closed retort container and subsequently retorted. The resulting retorted food product may contain gluten-free pasta that has the structural integrity and textual firmness consistent with that exhibited by traditional wheat pasta after having undergone retort.

    Abstract: A packaged ready-to-eat snack food product containing a mixture of co-fried tuber substrates and vegetable substrates includes from about 5% to about 95% of the tuber substrates; and from about 5% to about 95% of the vegetable substrates; such that the mixture in the packaged product has a moisture content in the range of about 1.3% to about 4.5% or an oil content in the range of about 20% to about 50%. Methods of making the mixture include pre-treating the tuber substrates, pre-treating the vegetable substrates in a manner that differs from the pre-treatment of the tuber substrates, and co-frying the pre-treated tuber substrates with the pre-treated vegetable substrates together at the same time and under the same conditions.

    Abstract: An in-store execution issue resolution system includes a processor communicatively coupled to a plurality of data sources, the data sources configured to provide data indicative of inventory and sales. The processor configured to, in response to data from at least one of the data sources indicating that one or more predefined conditions has been met, generate an alert requesting user input, in response to failing to receive user input within a predefined period, initiate at least one action to resolve the alert, and following the initiating of the at least one action, one of deactivate the alert, in response to detecting that initiating the at least one action caused the one or more conditions to clear, and maintain the alert in response to detecting that initiating the at least one action failed to cause the one or more conditions to clear.
