Abstract:
A mapping system and method. The mapping system comprises an electromagnetic field generator, a layer of electromagnetic field absorbing material over an object, and an infrared camera. The electromagnetic field generator is adapted to generate an electromagnetic field and expose the electromagnetic field absorbing material and object to the electromagnetic field. The layer of electromagnetic field absorbing material is adapted to absorb the electromagnetic field and generate areas of thermal differences within the electromagnetic field absorbing material. The infrared camera is adapted to detect the areas of thermal differences.
Abstract:
A method of forming a microphone having a variable capacitance first deposits high temperature deposition material on a die. The high temperature material ultimately forms structure that contributes to the variable capacitance. The method then forms circuitry on the die after depositing the deposition material. The circuitry is configured to detect the variable capacitance.
Abstract:
An interface to a parking application, such as a web portal, is provided over a secure network connection to tenants for managing parking validation services as well as related parking services and other integrated building services. An authenticated user may provide information for authorizing full, partial, or subsidized payment for a use of a parking facility, such as a use by a guest. The information may be provided by way of a personal computer, a mobile device, a special-purpose terminal, or the like. If the guest then presents a ticket at a separate attended or unattended exit terminal or point-of-sale device to complete the parking transaction, the transaction is processed in accordance with the provided information. According to other aspects of the invention, techniques for enabling configurable event notifications for events associated with validation services, and techniques for associating parking events with video and/or photographic image data are provided.
Abstract:
A system and method for monitoring and reporting automated call-processing performance is disclosed. Initially, performance metrics can be established for normal or acceptable system performance. Performance metrics may be determined for individual components and/or a combination of components in a system, wherein the individual metric may help to provide a performance indicator for the call processing system. The performance metrics can be established by utilizing historical data gathered from past operating characteristics or operating parameters. The performance metric can be calculated from past operating characteristics and could be a statistical distribution or a statistical value. This statistical distribution will often conform to a Gaussian distribution also known as a bell curve. However, acceptable performance limits can be set based on nearly any statistical distribution. A monitor can collect data over a predetermined time interval and process the monitored data to provide a “near” real-time performance data. When the near real time performance data falls within a pre-defined range of normal operation (based on the statistical distribution) system operation is most likely acceptable and operation proceeds. However, when the system performance data is outside of a normal range of operation, beyond a performance metric or exceeds a threshold value an alarm can be set to notify a human or an electronic device.
Abstract:
A method of providing an indication of the direction of a target such as a sniper. A rifle mounted sensor array detects an acoustic pulse originating from the target. The signal is processed to estimate the direction of the target, and an indication is provided when the weapon is aligned with the estimated direction. The direction of arrival of an acoustic pulse is estimated by spectrally decomposing each signal from the sensor so as to generate one or more spectral components for each signal, and processing the spectral components to estimate the direction of arrival.
Abstract:
Lubricant compositions of (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) a molybdenum salt; (c) a monoester of (i) a polyol and (ii) an aliphatic carboxylic acid containing about 12 to about 24 carbon atoms; and (d) a borate ester of a vicinal diol containing 12 to 24 carbon atoms provide good fuel economy and power output to internal combustion engines.
Abstract:
A patellofemoral brace including a buttress for supporting a wearer's patella is provided. The patellofemoral brace includes an elastic sleeve that is easy to apply to the wearer's leg and easy to remove from the wearer's leg. The sleeve includes distinct bands of material so that end bands are substantially rotationally independent of a central band. The end bands resist translation along and rotation about the wearer's leg. The brace further includes a tensioning strap that lies across the buttress to further support the buttress and the wearer's patella. A portion of the tensioning strap is constructed of a thermoplastic elastomer, so that the strap provides firmer support to the buttress than a fabric strap, but is more comfortable and more evenly supports the buttress than a hard, inelastic strap.
Abstract:
A method and system for automating the disambiguation of search results includes one or more database including a plurality of records, a search engine, and a disambiguation engine. The search engine allows for the searching of one or more of the databases for one or more search terms provided by a caller. The disambiguation engine differentiates between one or more returned records located by the search engine where the returned records satisfy the search terms. Furthermore, the disambiguation engine disambiguates the returned records based on the number of the returned records. The disambiguation engine disambiguates the returned records by providing a direct choice if the number of returned records is below a low threshold, providing a pick list if the number of returned records is between the low threshold and a high threshold, and requesting additional information if the number of returned records is above the high threshold.
Abstract:
The invention guides the driver of a tow vehicle when backing up to hook up a trailer. The invention uses a pole-mounted indicator light that is fastened to the hitch area of the trailer and powered from an internal battery. The pole-mounted light is elevated approximately 3 feet above the hitch, such that it is visible over the tailgate of a pick up truck or from the rear window of an suv or other vehicles. An adjustable arm is attached to the indicator light pole that folds down at a 90 degree angle and projects beyond the hitch area. When the tow vehicle backs up, it contacts a pressure activated limit switch when the hitch ball is directly underneath the trailer hitch. When activated the switch illuminates the indicator light, then the driver can use the indicator light to properly back & center vehicle over the hitch.
Abstract:
A method and system for error prevention and recovery of voice activated navigation through a menu having plural nodes provides situation dependent utterance verification by relating confirmation to utterance determination confidence levels. In one embodiment, a high confidence level results in implicit confirmation, a medium confidence level results in explicit confirmation and a low confidence level results in a concise interrogative prompt of a single word that requests the user to repeat the utterance. In situations where voice recognition is difficult, dual modality with DTMF navigation is provided as an option for menu selections.
