    Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a driver monitoring camera and an illumination source accommodated within a movable head of an interior rearview mirror of a vehicle. The illumination source is electrically activatable to emit near-infrared (NIR) light that illuminates with near-infrared (NIR) light at least the head of a driver of the vehicle. Emission of near-infrared (NIR) light by the illumination source is modulated on/off at an illumination source modulation rate. The camera frame capture rate of the driver monitoring camera is bigger than the illumination source modulation rate of near-infrared (NIR) light emitted by the illumination source. Frames of image data are captured by the camera and are processed while the illumination source is on and is emitting near-infrared (NIR) light, and frames of image data are captured by the camera and are processed while the illumination source is off and is not emitting near-infrared (NIR) light.

    Abstract: A vehicular forward-sensing system includes a radar sensor and a forward viewing image sensor disposed within a windshield electronics module that is removably installed within an interior cabin at a windshield of a vehicle. A control is responsive to outputs of the radar sensor and of the image sensor. The image sensor captures image data for an automatic headlamp control system of the vehicle and for a lane departure warning system of the vehicle. The image sensor views and the radar sensor senses an object present in the path of forward travel of the vehicle. The control determines that the object is an object of interest based at least in part on the image sensor viewing the object present in the path of forward travel of the vehicle and the radar sensor sensing the object present in the path of forward travel of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a driver monitoring camera and an illumination source accommodated within a movable head of an interior rearview mirror of a vehicle. The illumination source is electrically controlled to modulate near-infrared (NIR) light emitted by the illumination source whereby NIR light emitted by the illumination source comprises a characteristic modulation signature. Ambient light that is present within the interior cabin of the vehicle and modulated NIR light emitted by the illumination source that is reflected off at least the head of the driver of the vehicle are incident at the imaging array sensor of the driver monitoring camera. Processing of captured image data at an image processor distinguishes (i) NIR light emitted by the illumination source that has the characteristic modulation signature and that is reflected off the head of the driver from (ii) ambient light present within the interior cabin of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a video display screen and a video processor operable to process captured video image data captured by a rearward-viewing camera at the vehicle. The video display screen includes a left display region at a left portion, a right display region at a right portion, and a middle display region that spans between the left and right display regions. The video display screen displays at the left display region video images derived from image data captured by the rearward-viewing video camera to display a scene occurring at a left side lane at a left side of the equipped vehicle and does not display video images of the scene occurring at the left side lane at the left side of the equipped vehicle at the middle display region of the video display screen or at the right display region of the video display screen.

    Abstract: A vehicular multi-camera surround view system includes a front camera, a driver-side camera, a passenger-side camera and a rear backup camera. Image data captured by the cameras is conveyed to an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is operable to combine image data conveyed from the front camera, the driver-side camera, the passenger-side camera and the rear backup camera to form composite video images, which are output for display at a display device. Rear backup video images are displayed no later than two seconds after the driver of the vehicle first changes propulsion of the vehicle during a new ignition cycle to reverse mode. Upon changing propulsion of the vehicle during the new ignition cycle to reverse mode to commence a backup event subsequent to the first backup event, the video display screen displays video images derived, at least in part, from image data captured by the rear backup camera.

    Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an illumination source that, when powered, emits light that illuminates at least a portion of a driver of the vehicle. A camera is disposed at the interior of the vehicle and views the portion of the driver. A control includes an image processor that processes captured image data. The illumination source is controlled to modulate intensity of light emitted by the illumination source. The image data output is processed to distinguish a component of the image data output that arises from the illumination source illuminating the portion of the driver from a component of the image data output that arises from ambient light illuminating the portion of the driver. The control filters the image data output to reduce the distinguished component that arises from ambient light and, responsive to processing of the filtered image data output, monitors the portion of the driver.
