Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for dissolving the components of gel forming materials suitable for use in wound care comprising the steps of admixing said components with an ionic liquid. The ionic liquid may be selected from the group of tertiary amine N-oxides, N,N-dimethyl formamide/nitrogen tetroxide mixtures, dimethyl sulphoxide/paraformaldehyde mixtures and solutions of limium chloride in N,N-dimethyl acetamide or N-methylpyrrolidone.
Abstract:
Textiles are provided that include fibrous cellulosic materials having an α-cellulose content of less than about 93%, the fibrous materials being spun, woven, knitted, or entangled. The fibrous cellulosic materials can be irradiated with a dose of ionizing radiation that is sufficient to increase the molecular weight of the cellulosic materials without causing significant depolymerization of the cellulosic materials. Methods of treating textiles that include irradiating the textiles are also provided.
Abstract:
A fabric includes warp and weft yarns interwoven in a series of repeat units. In the fabric, the warp yarns comprise cotton yarns and the weft yarns comprise microdenier filament bundles. Such a fabric can provide desirable tactile properties for articles such as sheets, pillowcases, blankets and the like.
Abstract:
A woven or knitted fabric, formed from two types of yarns different in self-elongating property upon absorbing water and capable of facilitating the air-permeability when wetted with water, is constituted so that a ratio A/B of a mean length A of high water-absorbing, self-elongating yarns (1) to a mean length B of lower water-absorbing, self-elongating yarns (2) arranged in the same direction as that of the yarn (1) property is adjusted to 0.9 or less, the wetted fabric exhibits a change in roughness of 5% or more.
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a transpirable, permeable, elastic fabric or a non woven fabric and product thus obtained results in said fabric or non-woven fabric including first threads or fibres arranged in the direction of the weft and in that of the warp, including, either in the direction of the weft or in that of the warp or both, second threads or fibres, the melting point of which is below that of the first threads. The fabric is characterised in that it comprises a first stabilisation phase of the fabric and a second phase of heat pre-shaping of the referred fabric resulting from the first phase, blocking the elasticity of the resulting fabric or non-woven fabric in function of the greater or lesser density of the first threads and of the greater or lesser quantity of second threads that are melted.
Abstract:
A fabric comprising a textile layer comprising yarns, wherein said textile layer is permeable to water vapour and impermeable to liquid water; and disposed on at least part of one side of the textile layer is a wicking means.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a yarn containing siliconized micro-denier polyester fibers and macro-denier fibers. The blending ratio of the siliconized micro-denier polyester fibers and macro-denier fibers in the yarn ranges between about 10 to about 90 and about 90 to about 10 percent by weight. The macro-denier fiber of the yarn is selected from the group consisting of a synthetic fiber, a natural fiber, and a combination of synthetic and natural fibers. The invention also relates to a woven or knitted fabric and articles of clothing containing the yarn of the invention, either alone or in combination with other yarns.
Abstract:
A flat multifilament yarn woven fabric having a low air permeability and excellent vision through-preventing property and water- or perspiration-absorbing property includes, as warp and/or weft yarns, multifilament yarns formed from a plurality of artificial individual filaments having a flat cross-sectional profile in which, on both the sides of a longitudinal center line of the profile, 3 or more projections projecting outward from the longitudinal center line and 2 or more constrictions formed between the projections, per side of the profile are formed approximately in symmetry with respect to the longitudinal center line, and a degree of flatness of the profile represented by a ratio (B/C1) of a largest length B of the profile in the direction of the longitudinal center line to a largest width C1 of the profile in the direction of right angles to the longitudinal center line is 2 to 6, the woven fabric having a cover factor of 800 to 3500.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fibrous structure comprising at least one non composite para-aramid strand and at least one elastic nylon-based strand which are maintained parallel to each other, the non composite para-aramid strand being present in the structure in an amount ranging from about 20% to 99.9% by weight, relative to the weight of the structure. The invention also relates to a process to manufacture such structure and to high cut and abrasion resistant protective clothing made of this structure like gloves, aprons and sleeves.
Abstract:
A spun yarn comprising poly(trimethylene terephthalate) staple fibers at a content of at least 15% by weight, the spun yarn having an elastic recovery percentage of elongation at 5% elongation (%) null0.1Xnull70 (wherein X represents the content of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) staple fibers in the spun yarn (wt %)). The spun yarn is excellent in knitting and weaving characteristics, stretchability and stretch-back property and in shape stability and durability when worn for a prolonged period of time.
