Abstract:
A ring comprising a first fabric layer; a second fabric layer circumscribing the first fabric layer and a rigid member disposed between the first fabric layer and the second fabric layer. The ring being manufactured by providing a sheet of fabric, folding a first panel about a fold line towards a center of the sheet and folding a second panel along a second fold line towards the sheet such that the first panel and second panel are in abutting relationship once folded to create a seam. A rigid member is placed along the seam. The panel is folded about the seam so as to sandwich the rigid member between the first panel and second panel. Heat is applied to the entire structure to bond the first panel to the second panel. A first end of the panel is affixed to a second end of the panel to form a ring. The ring is placed about a hot cylindrical surface and then removed to harden.
Abstract:
A scent sampler and air freshener has a wafer of an absorbent resilient material infused with a liquid containing a scent. The wafer is encapsulated in a chamber formed between two panels of sheet material with edges sealed together to form an envelope. An opening in one of the panels enables scent from the liquid to be emitted to the ambient atmosphere. The rate of emission can be increased by squeezing the panels to compress the wafer. The interior surfaces of the panels can be coated with a barrier film to prevent leakage of the liquid from contaminating the sheet material.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a process for the production of hollow bodies of thermoplastic material, in particular a process for the production of fuel tanks of plastic material. In the process according to the invention preforms in web or band form of plasticised plastic material are shaped in a multi-part tool forming a mould cavity by expansion of the preforms and causing them to bear against the internal contour of the mould cavity. The process firstly includes the production of two mutually complementary intermediate products in the form of shell portions. Then respective built-in fitment components are secured to the respective insides of the shell portions, which face towards each other in the installation position, wherein at least some built-in fitment components of mutually complementary shell portions are respectively of mutually complementary configuration, in the sense that they can be joined to provide an assembled component or to provide a functional unit. The shell portions are assembled in such a way that the mutually complementary built-in fitment components engage into each other and/or come into operative connecting relationship with each other.

Abstract:
A belt splicing apparatus includes: a mold including a cavity into which connecting end portions of a resin-made belt are inserted, opposing each other, to connect the end portions by using a bonding resin; a heating unit that heats a bonding resin to more than a flow starting temperature of the bonding resin; and a pressure maintaining unit. The pressure maintaining unit includes: a reservoir communicating with the cavity and maintaining the bonding resin in a fluid state; a pressure transmitting member that transmits pressure to the bonding resin in the fluid state; an urging unit that urges the pressure transmitting member; and an urging force adjusting unit that adjusts an urging force applied by the urging unit.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method of manufacturing a packaging sheet for absorbing biofluid and a packaging sheet product manufactured therewith, in which the packaging sheet includes three layers, between two layers of which a biofluid absorption fabric is disposed, so that food is separated from the biofluid absorption fabric at the time of packaging the food, and thereby, in a state in which the food does not come into direct contact with the biofluid absorption fabric, drips oozing from the food are absorbed into the biofluid absorption fabric via absorption holes, thus maintaining optimal freshness of the packaged food.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a bag for use in vacuum packaging comprises forming a first panel having a plurality of baffles for evacuating air and/or other gases from inside the bag using a suction source, while preventing liquids from being drawn into the suction source, and a second panel. Each panel comprises a gas-impermeable base layer and a heat-sealable inner layer molded from melt-extruded resin. The first panel is overlapped with the second panel, and three of four edges of the panels are heated such that the inner layers bond at the heated edges. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects, and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures, and the claims.
Abstract:
A flexible sleeve disposable about at least a portion of a flower pot or floral grouping is formed of a flexible polymeric material having at least a portion of one surface thereof modified to provide a textured or matte finish to the flexible sleeve. The flexible sleeve may also be provided with perforations at preselected areas for removing an upper portion of the flexible sleeve from a lower portion thereof. Methods for wrapping a floral grouping or packaging a plant using the flexible sleeve are also described.
Abstract:
A panel of a material is transported in operative proximity to an air knife having a nozzle and a curved Coanda surface, such that the panel is folded over the curved Coanda surface as the material is transported in a machine direction. The panel can be folded to a variety of angles and can comprise a refastenable fastening component. Air knives are employed in various methods for folding garment side panels and forming prefastened garments, such as refastenable pants.
