摘要: A method for manufacturing a fuel tank is described herein. The method includes subsequent to molding of a housing of a fuel tank, positioning a strut inside the housing. The method additionally includes snap-fitting a flexible projection of the strut with a corresponding flange section in a first wall of the housing, the flange section surrounding an opening in the first wall of the housing and the flexible projection including a surface overlapping an interior surface of the flange section subsequent to the snap-fitting.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a fuel tank on the basis of thermoplastic material, the method comprising the following method steps: producing semifinished products in sheet form from a fiber composite material with a matrix of thermoplastic material, laminating the semifinished products with a laminate that comprises at least one barrier layer for hydrocarbons, heat-treating the laminated semifinished products until the thermoplastic material plasticizes, thermoforming the plasticized semifinished products in a thermoforming mold to form shells and joining the shells to form an essentially closed tank.

摘要: A process method utilizing customized, specifically-shaped pieces of reticulated polyurethane foam (RPF) to fill an aircraft fuel tank or tank compartment to provide ignition mitigation and prevent explosion in the tank. The process involves inserting the shaped pieces of RPF through existing access ports into a fuel tank in order to fill the tank, excepting minimal planned void spaces. This process effects ignition mitigation by acting as an ignition blocker, mechanically interfering with the compression wave that precedes the flame front in an explosion, and changing the vaporous mixture above the fuel level (ullage) in the tank. The foam pieces are assembled and fitted together throughout the tank in a pattern that replicates the shape of the tank. After the foam insertion is complete, the fuel tank is filled with purging fluid, drained through a filter until no debris is found, and the new maximum fuel quantity is recalibrated.

摘要: The invention relates to a closure system on a fuel tank (2) of thermoplastics with barrier properties for hydrocarbons. The closure system comprises at least one orifice (4), with a closure cap (5) which closes the orifice (4) in a sealing manner and which cooperates in a form-fitting manner with closure means provided at the circumference of the orifice (4) and encloses at least one first sealing means between it and a tank wall (3). The closure system (1) according to the invention is distinguished in that the tank wall is sealed in the region of the orifice (4) with at least one second sealing means, which covers and/or shields a part of the tank wall surfaces exposed to hydrocarbons.

Embodiments of compressed gas storage units may be composite in nature, for example comprising carbon fiber filament(s) wound with a resin over a liner. A compressed gas storage unit may further include a heat exchanger element comprising a heat pipe or apparatus configured to introduce liquid directly into the storage unit for heat exchange with the compressed gas present therein.
