摘要: Described are fuel cell/inerting systems (12, 20) having at least one fuel cell system (10), at least one dryer coupled en (26) to a fuel tank (40), at least one ODA flow selector valve (28) having a first outlet port coupled to a cargo bay (38), and a second outlet port coupled to the dryer (26), and a controller (36). The fuel cell/inerting system detects an amount of ODA output from the fuel cell system and transmits a signal to the ODA flow selector valve instructing the ODA flow selector valve to open both outlet ports when the controller determines that the amount of ODA output is sufficient to supply the cargo bay (38) and the fuel tank (40) or close one of the two outlet ports when the controller determines that the amount of ODA output is insufficient to supply the cargo bay and the fuel tank. ODA: Oxygen Depleted Air NEA: Nitrogen Enriched Air

摘要: Noise and room air overpressure on discharge of a gas extinguisher system is reduced. During the discharge, an extinguishing fluid is conveyed from a pressurized container via a container valve and line system to an extinguishing nozzle. At the beginning of the discharge the extinguishing fluid is predominantly present in the line system in liquid phase and after discharge it assumes a predominantly gaseous phase. In a phase transition period, which is accompanied by a significant reduction in the extinguishing fluid mass flow and a significant increase in the noise and the room air pressure, the mass flow is then reduced or stopped. Due to the reduction of the mass flow, the sound level of the noise arising is advantageously reduced to a value of a maximum of 100 dB and the room air pressure to an overpressure value ranging from 200 to 1000 Pa.

摘要: This discovery provides means to move cryogenic liquids safely in circumstances not needing long term liquid state preservation, to: reduce mass from current practiced cryogenic containments, lower cost, making methods affordable, and be disposable, if necessary. Using liquid Nitrogen as the transport agent for Nitrogen gas in fire, crises and energy situations allows expelling of foreign substances by both liquid and gaseous Nitrogen keeps both temperature and purity of the gas. expanding quantity at evaporation to over 200 times volume, and employing plastic materials properly constructed for rapid movement, thermal insulation, inclusion of electrical wiring and function in dead air space, and flow direction control using valves. This allows fixed Nitrogen fire control systems, replacing water sprinkler systems, eliminating water damage and electrical arcing. Implementing cryogenic operations broadens with economical, reliable equipment and tools when long term retention of liquid state is not required.

摘要: A temperature-control and fire-suppression system is provided for a system space, which optionally houses IT equipment. The system space has a ventilation system for providing controlled temperature air, for example to the IT equipment. A store of a fire-suppressing gas in liquid form is coupled to a supply means for supplying the fire-suppressing gas in liquid form to the system space, such that evaporation of the fire-suppressing gas in liquid form cools, or absorbs energy, from, the air in the system space. A temperature sensor is provided for sensing a temperature in the system space and a controller is responsive to the sensed temperature for controlling the supply means, to supply the fire-suppressing gas in liquid form while maintaining the sensed temperature above a predetermined lower temperature.
