Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for capturing carbon dioxide CO2 by carbonation in a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) carbonation reactor wherein temperature profile is adjusted by recirculation of solid fractions of metal oxide MeO and metal carbonate MeCO3 to the CFB carbonation reactor. Also a system recirculating the metal oxide MeO and metal carbonate MeCO3 is provided by the invention.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mixing arrangement for mixing a fuel with a stream of oxygen containing gas flowing along an axis in an axial channel, especially in the second combustor of a gas turbine with sequential combustion. The mixing is improved and the mixing length reduced by said mixing arrangement comprising an injector with at least one injector ring, which is passed by said stream of gas inside and outside.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for operating a combined cycle power plant, which includes a steam turbine powertrain with a high-pressure steam turbine, an intermediate pressure steam turbine and a low-pressure steam turbine, whereby intermediate pressure steam flowing from the exit of the high-pressure steam turbine to the inlet of the intermediate pressure steam turbine is reheated by means of the reheat device, and which is connected to a solar thermal plant, that generates additional solar steam for being used by said steam turbine powertrain. The output of the solar steam generator is used more effectively, and the overall plant performance, flexibility and operability are enhanced by at least part of the additional solar steam reaching the intermediate pressure steam turbine without being reheated in said reheat device.
Abstract:
A turbine vane for a rotary turbomachine is described having a turbine blade which is delimited by a concave pressure-side wall and a convex suction-side wall which are connected in the region of a vane front edge which can be assigned to the turbine blade and enclose a cavity which extends in the longitudinal extent of the vane front edge and is delimited on the inner wall by the pressure-side wall and the suction-side wall in the region of the vane front edge and by an intermediate wall which extends in the longitudinal direction to the vane front edge and connects the suction-side wall and the pressure-side wall on the inner wall. The disclosed vane is distinguished by the fact that the intermediate wall has a perforation at least in sections in the connecting region to the suction-side wall and/or pressure-side wall, in order to increase the elasticity of the intermediate wall.
Abstract:
An improved labyrinth seal is described with the seal including a group of several fins forming circumferential barriers against the flow of a working fluid between stationary and rotating parts in a turbine, wherein within the group the volume between the penultimate fin and the last fin is altered compared to the average volume between other adjacent fins of the group.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a heat exchanger for transferring heat between a first gas flow and a second gas flow, the heat exchanger comprising at least two sectors; a first sector that is operative to receive a combustion air stream; and a second sector that is opposed to the first sector and that is operative to receive either a reducer gas stream or an oxidizer gas stream, and a pressurized layer disposed between the first sector and the second sector; where the pressurized layer is at a higher pressure than combustion air stream, the reducer gas stream and the oxidizer gas stream.
Abstract:
A method of operating a turbine unit, wherein recirculated exhaust gas is contacted with a cooling and absorption liquid in a packed bed. An exhaust gas treatment system for a turbine unit, wherein an exhaust gas recirculation line comprises a gas cooling and cleaning device having a packed bed for contacting the exhaust gas with a cooling and absorption liquid. A combined cycle power generating system, wherein an exhaust gas recirculation line comprises a gas cooling and cleaning device having a packed bed for contacting the exhaust gas from a gas turbine with a cooling and absorption liquid and wherein water utilized as a cooling medium for condensation of steam originating from a steam turbine, and the cooling and absorption liquid, are passed to a cooling tower.
Abstract:
The present application relates to a system for removal of gaseous contaminants from a gas stream. The system includes an absorber for contacting the gas stream with a wash solution to form a used wash stream, a regenerator for regenerating the used wash solution, a reboiler and at least two heat exchangers in fluid communication with the absorber, regenerator and reboiler.
Abstract:
An apparatus is mountable to a duct having a cross-section, for determining parameters of a flowable medium flowing through the duct. The apparatus includes a mounting attachment having a conduit member, and at least one combination of multiple sensing members configured to the conduit member. The conduit member may be disposed entirely within the duct such that the multiple sensing members are located within the duct establishing direct contact with the flowable medium. The multiple sensing members include oxygen and temperature sensing elements respectively, to determine parameter such as oxygen level in the flowable medium, and temperature of the flowable medium. Several such apparatus may be mounted in the duct across the cross-section to define a grid to determine said parameter at various locations across the cross-section.
