摘要: A system and method of using the system for controlling oxidation of sulfites to reduce total nitrite and nitrate levels in a slurry is disclosed. The system includes a tank having an inlet for receiving a slurry produced in a wet flue gas desulfurization process. The tank also includes an inlet for receiving a gas. The inlet for receiving the gas is operable to disperse at least a portion of the gas received in the tank through at least a portion of the slurry received in the tank. A sensor is configured to measure a sulfite concentration of the slurry received in the tank to obtain a sulfite concentration measurement. In some embodiments, the sensor is a sulfite analyzer. In other embodiments, the sensor is a virtual analyzer. The system also includes a controller. Software executing on the controller generates an electronic signal affecting an adjustment of a flow rate of gas into the slurry in the tank based at least in part on the sulfite concentration/sulfite concentration measurement.

摘要: A method of sequestering carbon dioxide comprises reacting the carbon dioxide with aqueous magnesium ions at elevated pH to form magnesium carbonate-containing salts. The carbon dioxide is preferably reacted with alkali to form carbonate and/or bicarbonate anions at elevated pH, and the carbonate and/or bicarbonate anions are subsequently reacted with aqueous magnesium cations to form the magnesium carbonate-containing salts. A preferred alkaline material for use in elevating the pH of the aqueous solution in the present invention is Cement Kiln Dust (CKD), and a preferred source of aqueous magnesium ions is reject water from a desalination plant.

摘要: In order to heighten the recovery of activated carbon by separation in a flotation device and stably inhibit mercury from being re-emitted in a desulfurization/absorption tower and from coming into gypsum to be recovered, a method is provided, the method comprising: adding activated carbon to an absorption liquid to be sprayed into the desulfurization/absorption tower to thereby remove mercury components from the flue gas simultaneously with desulfurization of the flue gas; sending the absorption liquid used for the desulfurization to the flotation device to thereby form a foam bubble layer; reducing the drainage volume so that the physical properties of the bubble layer are within given ranges, in such an amount that the concentration of chlorine ions in the absorption liquid does not exceed a given value; and simultaneously adding Ca and/or Mg ions and a frothing agent to the absorption liquid.

摘要: Multi-fiber, fiber optic cable assemblies may be configured so that the terminal ends of the cables have pre-assembled back-post assemblies that include pre-assembled ferrules, such as MPO ferrules that meet the requisite tolerances needed for fiber optic transmissions. To protect the pre-assembled components from damage prior to and during installation, pre-assembled components may be enclosed within a protective housing. The housing with pre-assembled components may be of a size smaller than fully assembled connectors so as to be sized to fit through a conduit. The remaining connector housing components for the multi-fiber connectors may be provided separately and may be configured to be attached to the back-post assembly after installation of the cable.

摘要: Methods and systems for bioremediation of heavy metal contaminants in waste materials (e.g., sludge and combustion wastes from a coal-fixed power plant). The systems described in the present application include at least one waste treatment unit (e.g., a flue gas cleaner or a waste lagoon) that includes one or more selected bacterial strains disposed therein consume and/or reclaim at least a portion of the heavy metal in the combustion wastes. Methods include inoculating a waste treatment unit with one or more selected bacteria that consume and/or reclaim at least a portion of the heavy metal in the combustion wastes. Methods may include periodic reinoculation of the waste treatment unit with fresh bacteria and period recovery of the bacteria from the waste treatment unit.

摘要: A mixed salt composition adapted for use as a sorbent for carbon dioxide removal from a gaseous stream is provided, the composition being in solid form and including magnesium oxide, an alkali metal carbonate, and an alkali metal nitrate, wherein the composition has a molar excess of magnesium characterized by a Mg:X atomic ratio of at least about 3:1, wherein X is the alkali metal. A process for preparing the mixed salt is also provided, the process including mixing a magnesium salt with a solution comprising alkali metal ions, carbonate ions, and nitrate ions to form a slurry or colloid including a solid mixed salt including magnesium carbonate; separating the solid mixed salt from the slurry or colloid to form a wet cake; drying the wet cake to form a dry cake including the solid mixed salt; and calcining the dry cake to form a mixed salt sorbent.

摘要: A vertical scrubber (1) for exhaust gas from a marine vessel is described. An exhaust gas tube (2) is substantially coaxially arranged through the bottom of a lower scrubbing chamber (3) and is released though an exhaust gas outlet (20) being coaxially arranged through the top of an upper scrubbing chamber (13). A lower scrubbing chamber deflection body (4) is arranged above the opening of the exhaust gas tube (2) for redirecting the exhaust gas towards the walls of the scrubber and create turbulent gas flow, where one or more lower chamber water injector(s) (6, 6′) is (are) arranged above the lower scrubbing chamber deflection body (4), to introduce scrubbing water, and where a lower chamber exhaust gas outlet (12) is arranged at the top of the lower scrubbing chamber (3) as a coaxial constriction, for withdrawing the partly scrubbed exhaust gas from the first scrubbing chamber and introducing the gas into the upper scrubbing chamber (13).
