Abstract: A compact hydraulic unit for slip-controlled brake systems with several hydraulically, mechanically and/or electrically operable functional elements (e.g. accumulator, valve elements, pressure generating and driving elements) arranged in an accommodating member, with several pressure fluid channels connecting the functional elements. The pressure fluid channels create a hydraulically operable connection between at least one pressure fluid supply and one pressure fluid consumer. A control device can be connected with the valve and the driving elements by means of electrical conductors. The valve elements are arranged in several valve accommodating bores of the valve accommodating member in a first and a second row. Pressure fluid bores are provided between the two diametrically extending valve rows which connect the valve elements and location bores containing the pressure generating element and the driving element. Outside the two valve rows, there are further location bores in the valve accommodating member in which pressure accumulator pistons are positioned.

Abstract: An economical to manufacture and simple to install and remove gas charged fluid pressure accumulator including a cup-shaped accumulator body with an integral dome at one end and an integral in-turned annular lip at the other end, a piston slidably disposed in the accumulator body, and an external screw thread on the accumulator body. The accumulator body is screwed into a threaded counterbore until the annular lip bears against a bottom wall of the counterbore with a fluid port of the manifold inside of the projection of the lip on the bottom wall. A seal ring in a groove in the bottom wall of the counterbore bears against the annular lip to seal the chamber of the accumulator defined between the bottom wall and the piston.

Abstract: For sealing between two opposed surfaces of two machine elements (1, 2) a combination seal is provided to be fitted into an open groove (3) in one of the machine elements (2). The seal comprises an electomeric expansion ring (4, 5) at the bottom of the groove (3), an intermediate ring (6) made of a viscous-elastic material, e.g. PTFE and having a sealing surface (6b) to contact the mating machine element (2), and an elastomeric outer ring (8) fitted into a separate groove (7) in the sealing surface (6b) of the intermediate ring. Especially in cases where the seal is to separate fluid and gas an improved distribution of the contact pressure at the sealing surface (6b) and also an effective hydrodynamic relief of the outer ring (8) preventing its exposure to injurious pressures and subsequent damage is obtained by designing the intermediate ring (6) at the ends of the sealing surface (6b) with comparatively sharp corners (16, 17), the parts of the sealing surface between these corners and the separate groove (7) forming conical faces (14, 15) which at a narrow slit angle converge towards the separate groove (7). The intermediate ring may also be biassed by the two expansion rings (4, 5) placed on each side of the separate groove (7).

Abstract: A piston type accumulator has a detection device that informs a user about the position of the piston incorporated therein. Abnormalities in the hydraulic system operations e.g., a gas leak from a gas chamber bounded by the piston or the sudden turning on of a fluid-actuated device in the system, can cause an excessive movement of the piston; likewise, clogging of lines or the sudden stoppage of a fluid-actuated device may cause a fluid pressure rise in the system and, consequently, a displacement of the piston to actuate the detection device. In this invention, the position of the piston is detected by use of a permanent magnet that actuates a reed relay or moves a magnetic inductive indicator installed on the outside of a accumulator shell to be readily visible thereat.

Abstract: A pressure fluid reservoir is made from two housing components, that are brought together with an outer and inner thread arrangement with end stops formed by adjacent ends of the two housing components. The first housing component of the pressure fluid reservoir includes two segments and the second housing component includes two guide faces with an inner thread and an outer thread located between them. The guide faces are disposed with such a length and such a spacing with respect to one another that prior to the threads being screwed together during assembly, the threads are sealed off from the reservoir chambers and two stop faces facing one another on the housing components come into contact on their ends once the screwing operation is completed. The ends are exposed to the outside so that the contact between the ends can be seen from the outside.

Abstract: An accumulator comprises a cylinder formed with a substantially closed chamber and a piston formed with a small-diameter central region and a pair of large-diameter end regions flanking the central region and each formed with an outwardly open annular groove. This piston subdivides the chamber into a gas compartment at one of the end regions, a liquid compartment at the other end region, and an annular charging compartment surrounding the central region. The piston is displaceable in the cylinder to oppositely vary the volumes of the gas and liquid compartments. Respective gas and liquid seals are engaged in the grooves between the gas- and liquid-compartment end regions of the piston and the cylinder and are both constructed to inhibit fluid flow from the respective gas and liquid compartments into the charging compartment. The liquid seal is also constructed to inhibit fluid flow from the charging compartment into the liquid compartment but the gas seal is constructed to permit fluid flow from the charging compartment past itself into the gas compartment. A passage is formed in the cylinder opening directly into the charging compartment for introducing a gas under pressure into same and for thereby pressurizing the charging and gas compartments by flowing the gas past the gas seal into the gas compartment.

Abstract: An energy storage device comprising a high pressure liquid accumulator, a low pressure liquid accumulator and at least one pump and motor unit, i.e. a device able to be used as a pump and a motor which is connected to a means, such as the drive train of a vehicle, supplying or absorbing energy as the case may demand and during charging of the high pressure liquid accumulator from the low pressure accumulator functions as a pump and on discharge thereof functions as a motor, at least that pressure line connecting the high pressure accumulator and the pump and motor unit having a shut off valve therein. A piston delimiting the storage space of the low pressure liquid accumulator is connected to a telescoping cylinder bearing against the end plate of the accumulator and the cylinder is connected via an operating pressure line with the high pressure accumulator for pressurization. On charging of the high pressure accumulator with an accompanying discharge of the low pressure accumulator it is thus possible to avoid a fall in the pressure in the latter to an overly low level; in fact the pressure fluctuates about an average value between a relatively high minimum value and a maximum value. The latter feature is due to the changing size of the active pressure faces as the telescoping pressure cylinder is extended one part after another.

Variable volume chamber (100) of the compensator (14) and variable volume chamber (112) of the actuator are interconnected and fluid is transferred back and forth between them during movements of the compensator and actuator pistons.

Abstract: A pressure fluid reservoir comprising a cylinder with a reservoir connection, a piston displaceable in the cylinder and non-contact switch means for indicating piston positions. Between the reservoir connection and the piston, the cylinder encloses a pressure fluid chamber, which is intended for storing a pressure fluid such as hydraulic oil, brake pressure fluid or the like. Opposite the pressure fluid chamber, the piston defines a gas chamber. The non-contact switch indicating means comprise Reed contacts, for example, and are disposed outside the cylinder such that they are longitudinally adjustable along the cylinder.
