    Abstract: A business form includes a first sheet 16 of label stock having one side 24 coated with a first pressure sensitive adhesive 22, a first sheet 18 of release liner stock engaged with the first adhesive 22 with the release liner 18 and the label stock 16 being laterally offset from one another so that a narrow strip "N" of the first adhesive that is unengaged with the release liner 18 exists. A second sheet 36 of label stock is provided and is coated on one side 38 with a second pressure sensitive adhesive 40. A second sheet 42 of release liner stock is adhered at one edge to the first label stock sheet 16 at the narrow strip "N" of first adhesive 24 as well as to the second sheet 36 of label stock by the second adhesive 40. The characteristics of the two label stock or the characteristics of the two adhesives, or both may be varied to achieve various purposes.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a composite web of pressure sensitive labels and method of making and using same. The composite web has a web of supporting material and a series of two-part labels releasably secured by pressure sensitive adhesive to the supporting material web. One part of the label is detachably connected to the other part by a line of partial severing. The adhesive is preferably coated onto only the one label part and the other label part is preferably free of adhesive. The label parts that are adhesive-free are detachably connected to each other by frangible portions which prevent the adhesive-free label parts from moving away from the supporting material web until the labels are delaminated from the supporting material. There is also disclosed method of making such composite webs and method of using such composite webs in label printing and applying machines.

    Abstract: A method for making a novel assembly of laid-on labels, without die-cutting, is described. The method comprises printing over the release surface of a temporary carrier web a liquid pressure-sensitive adhesive in a predetermined pattern of discrete label areas separated by intervening areas of the carrier, solidifying the adhesive surface, forming a continuous film of radiation polymerizable liquid over each adhesive area, the film over each area being unconnected to films over adjacent areas, and exposing the films to radiation sufficient to solidify them by polymerization. Preferably the films extend over the edges of the adhesive and comprise liquids which do not wet the release surface.
