Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided that may be configured to receive a downlink control message, to determine a beta offset value for transmitting UCI based at least in part on the downlink control message, and to transmit the UCI on an uplink shared channel interleaved with data based on the determined beta offset value. The apparatus may identify the beta offset from a set of values based on the downlink control message. An apparatus may identify resources allocated for PUSCH and may map UCI to the identified resources for PUSCH in a frequency interleaved manner over a bandwidth of the identified resources. The apparatus may map data to the identified resources in a time-first or frequency-first manner, and may transmit a signal comprising UCI and data on the identified resources of the PUSCH in accordance with the mapping.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may map a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence to a first symbol in a set of resource blocks (RBs) of an uplink long burst, and the first symbol may occur at the beginning of the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be “front-loaded” in the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be dependent upon RB locations. When the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of an uplink long burst, uplink control information (UCI) may be mapped in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). A UE may map UCI in a PUSCH after the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of the uplink long burst. When the base station receives an uplink long burst including the front-loaded DMRS and the UCI mapped in the PUSCH, the base station may identify the DMRS for channel estimation/interference cancelation of the UCI carried on the PUSCH.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for improving a physical random access channel (PRACH) design, for example, to support larger cell radius for communications in a wireless network. In aspects, a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes receiving at least one configuration of a plurality of available narrowband physical random access channel (NPRACH) configurations or an indication of one of the plurality of NPRACH configurations. Each of the plurality of NPRACH configurations includes a different combination of at least two of a multi-level frequency hopping patter, cyclic prefix length, symbol group format, or tone spacing for NPRACH signals. The method also includes determining at least one resource within a plurality of available NPRACH resources according to the received configuration(s) or the received indication, and transmitting a NPRACH signal using the determined at least one resource.

A second apparatus may receive information associated with resource allocation, determine a granularity based on the information associated with resource allocation, determine resource allocation based at least in part on the granularity, and receive a signal carried on resources corresponding to the resource allocation.

Abstract: Techniques for performing network-assisted peer discovery to enable peer-to-peer (P2P) communication are described. In one design, a device registers with a network entity (e.g., a directory agent) so that the presence of the device and possibly other information about the device can be made known to the network entity. The network entity collects similar information from other devices. The device sends a request to the network entity, e.g., during or after registration. The request includes information used to match the device with other devices, e.g., information about service(s) provided by the device and/or service(s) requested by the device. The directory agent matches requests received from all devices, determines a match between the device and at least one other device, and sends a notification to perform peer discovery. The device performs peer discovery in response to receiving the notification from the network entity.

Abstract: Due to the limited dimension of a NB that may be used by multiple users, as well as possible large coverage areas, timing offset estimation may be outside of NCP. The inaccuracy in the timing estimate can be improved by using more than one tone hopping distance for PRACH. An apparatus may then transmit a first and second tone of the PRACH at a first hopping distance from the first tone. The apparatus may then transmit a third tone of the PRACH and a fourth tone of the PRACH at a second hopping distance from the third tone. The second hopping distance may be greater than first hopping distance. The apparatus may also transmit an additional tone of the PRACH using a random hopping distance. A receiving apparatus may receive the transmitted PRACH and determine a phase estimation based on the sets of tones having different hopping distances.
