Abstract: An apparatus for singly loading perpendicularly conveyed elongated members from a first conveyor to a second conveyor. The apparatus is positioned downstream of the first conveyor and upstream of the second conveyor. The apparatus comprises plural stopper arms each analogously displaceable between an abutting position, wherein the stopper arms hold elongated members from moving forward on the first conveyor, and a bypassing position, wherein the stopper arms are disposed away from the first conveyor for allowing the elongated members to move forward as displaced by the first conveyor. Plural analogously moving lower loaders wheel each have a generally circular body with a gripping surface on an outer periphery thereof. The gripping surface is adapted for abutting an elongated member. Plural analogously moving upper loader wheels are generally positioned above the lower loader wheels and have a resilient peripheral portion. Plural stabilizer wheels are idle and adapted for lying on a top surface of an elongated members at least when the elongated member is abutted against the stopper arms. The apparatus is synchronized such that the elongated member is lifted by the gripping surfaces of the lower loader wheels when the stopper arms are moved to the bypassing position, whereby the elongated member is engaged between the gripping surfaces of the lower loader wheels and the stabilizer wheels or the resilient portions of the upper loader wheels while being transferred from the first conveyor to the second conveyor.

Abstract: Apparatus for conveying articles, particularly articles such as containers, or bottles, having a neck portion with a neck ring thereon, along an article conveying path with the articles being urged along the article conveying path by article engaging members extending from a plurality of sections of an elongated movable member that extends along a second path adjacent and horizontally offset from the article conveying path. The elongated movable member is preferably a chain having a plurality of links each with a body portion and vertically spaced end portions shaped such that the links are connectable to one another in a manner enabling limited angular deviation of the chain during normal operation, and article engagement preferably includes a flange that extends horizontally from the lower end of each chain link into the article conveying path to engage the lower edge of the neck ring of articles in the article conveying path so that the articles are urged along the article conveying path upon movement of the chain unit along the second path.

Abstract: A conveyor including a pair of endless belts defining mutually facing operative runs and arranged to be laterally equally displaced towards and away from each other to produce a centering action on a log, cant or other elongated member of variable diameter being conveyed between the mutually facing runs. Supports pivotally carry each end of each endless belt and a spring and an interconnecting link are operatively connected at each end of the endless belts between the corresponding pair of supports to bias the latter towards each other and produce opposite pivoting of the same. The link has a lost motion interconnection to allow within adjustable limits convergence or divergence of the two conveyor belts, so that the latter may efficiently engage tapering logs or cants.
