Abstract: There is provided a server for providing contents, which is provided with a registration unit that stores first destination information representing a destination of offering of contents in a memory, as a regular destination of contents, if the registration unit receives a command for registration accompanied by the first destination information, a content providing unit that provides contents to a client device corresponding the regular destination stored in the memory, and a switched content providing unit that operates to stop offering of contents by the content providing unit for a predetermined time period if the switched content providing unit receives a command for switching accompanied by second destination information representing a destination of offering of contents, to provide contents to a client device corresponding to the second destination information, to stop offering of contents to the client device corresponding to the second destination information if the predetermined time period has elapsed, and to restart the offering of contents by the content providing unit.

Abstract: An electronic still camera for capturing images to be transferred to at least one e-mail address is disclosed. The electronic still camera includes an image sensor for capturing a plurality of images of scenes and for producing image signals representative of the corresponding scenes; an analog-to-digital converter for digitizing the image signals to produce digital images; and a removable memory card for storing a plurality of digital image files corresponding to the digital images. The electronic still camera also includes an internal memory for storing at least one digital image to be displayed and a plurality of e-mail addresses; a processor for controlling the transfer of the digital images from the removable memory card to the internal memory and for producing a utilization file; and a display coupled to the internal memory for displaying at least one digital image. The electronic still camera further includes a user interface for selecting at least one e-mail address and for scrolling through the plurality of digital images stored on the removable memory card in order to display and select particular digital images to be transferred to the selected at least one e-mail address, wherein the utilization file includes the at least one selected e-mail address and the name of at least one digital image file to be transferred to the at least one selected e-mail address and the processor stores the utilization file on the removable memory card separate from the digital image files.

Abstract: An image commercial transactions system and method that are able to implement the sales to the purpose of the seller. An e-commerce system for selling a picture and a handling condition specific to the picture, both being recorded on a predetermined recording medium in a predetermined format. The picture to be sold and the handling condition are accepted by an acceptor in a digital format. When a transaction is established, an accounting company carries out an accounting electronically for a purchaser of the data of the picture and the e-commerce condition, thereby both of the picture to be sold and the handling condition are sold as digital data so that the purchased picture is used in a handling manner as intended by the seller. Consequently, the selling of the picture can be made so as to satisfy the intention of the seller.

Abstract: A general document recognition system is described which is intended to be used in connection with an electronic document transmission function used on a computer network. The general document recognition system is set up to recognize any number of document types created by application programs in the network and is also set up with rules as to how to extract destination data from each document type. The extracted data from each document can be the actual intended destination, such as a facsimile telephone number, or can be the identity of the intended recipient individual. If a recipient, rather than a destination, is extracted from the document, the general document recognition system can query a previously designated external database to recover the destination information for that recipient. An LDAP database is the preferred external database for this function.
