    Abstract: The invention provides cationic tetracyclic and pentacyclic bacteriochlorophyll derivatives (Bchls) containing at least one positively charged group and/or at least one basic group that is converted to a positively charged group under physiological conditions, preferably Bchls having an onium group derived from a N-containing aliphatic or heterocyclic radical such as ammonium, guanidinium, imidazolium, pyridinium, and the like or a phosphonium, arsonium, oxonium, sulfonium, selenonium, telluronium, stibonium, or bismuthonium group, or a basic group that is converted to such onium groups under physiological conditions, said groups being bound to one or more of the positions 17 , 13 and 3 of the Bchl molecule by ester or amide bond.     Abstract: A method implementable on a computing device includes exploiting data redundancy to combine high frequency information from at least two different scales of an input signal to generate a super resolution version of said input signal. An alternative method includes exploiting recurrence of data from an input signal in at least two different scales of at least one reference signal to extract and to combine high frequency information from a plurality of scales of said at least one reference signal to generate a super resolution version of said input signal. An alternative method includes generating a super resolution version of a single input video sequence in at least the temporal dimension by exploiting data recurrence within the input video sequence or with respect to an external database of example video sequences. A signal may be an image, a video sequence, an audio signal, etc.

    Abstract: Novel iron chelators exhibiting neuroprotective and good transport properties are useful in iron chelation therapy for treatment of a disease, disorder or condition associated with iron overload and oxidative stress, eg. a neurodegenerative or cerebrovascular disease or disorder, a neoplastic disease, hemochromatosis, thalassemia, a cardiovascular disease, diabetes, a inflammatory disorder, anthracycline cardiotoxicity, a viral infection, a protozoal infection, a yeast infection, retarding ageing, and prevention and/or treatment of skin ageing and skin protection against sunlight and/or UV light. The iron chelator function is provided by a 8-hydroxyquinoline, a hydroxypyridinone or a hydroxamate moiety, the neuroprotective function is imparted to the compound e.g. by a neuroprotective peptide, and a combined antiapoptotic and neuroprotective function by a propargyl group.
