摘要: A method for manufacturing a large basically spherical vessel from plane aluminum plates having a thickness in the range from about 20 mm to about 70 mm, comprises (a) forming at least first and second plane plate assemblies by downhand welding together plane plates controlled by a welding device including an adjustably lockable portal, (b) cutting each welded plane plate assembly to a peripheral shape that fits into the structural pattern of the vessel except for an allowance for machining in step (d), (c) bending each plate assembly to part-spherical configuration, (d) machining respective edges of the first and second bent plate assemblies to a profile suitable for welding in step (e), and (e) downhand welding the first and second plate assemblies together along the machined edges using a manipulator device that includes a tiltable support.

摘要: Underwater sound from a marine vessel driven by one or more propellers is damped by introducing air and/or other gas into the vessel's propeller flow(s) so that the turbulence of the propeller flow(s) causes mixing of the air/gas and water and disintegration of gas bubbles. The majority of the gas bubbles formed in the water are from 1 to 20 mm in diameter.

摘要: A main propulsion arrangement for a high power ship or the like comprises an underwater drive unit connected to and turnable by a substantially vertical tubular shaft journalled in the ship. The drive unit and the tubular shaft define a hollow casing enclosing an electrical propulsion motor connected to a propeller shaft, which is connected to a driving propeller external of the casing. The casing is, at its inside, supported by several mainly vertical web plates, which are arranged to act, in combination, as elements structurally stiffening and supporting the casing, as elements securing the propulsion motor in place relative to the casing, as elements transmitting to the casing reaction forces to the torque developed by the propulsion motor, and as wall elements of ducts for incoming and outgoing gaseous coolant for the propulsion motor.

摘要: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for collecting oil from water in open water and/or winter conditions, whereby a vessel's (1) hull (2) and an oil collecting equipment (4) are utilized as an oil collector. According to the invention, the oil collecting equipment (4) is attached to the vessel's (1) hull (2) and it is equipped with an auxiliary device (7), which comprises at least two auxiliary means (10a,b) which are interconnected so that they are movable with respect to each other. The auxiliary means (10a,b) can be utilized in various ways in different conditions.

摘要: A sound source arrangement for use in carrying out a seismic survey comprises flexible structural modules connected together end-to-end to form an elongated flexible structure of substantially uniform exterior cross-sectional shape and size. The elongated flexible structure can be stored on a reeling unit and may be unwound from the reeling unit at a survey location and wound back onto the reeling unit without disconnecting the modules from one another. At least one of the flexible modules is an air gun module which includes a device for producing sound impulses.

摘要: A relatively wide vessel is assisted through an ice field by an icebreaker having a relatively narrow hull. The icebreaker includes two steerable propulsion mechanisms at the opposite ends respectively of the hull, and the propulsion mechanisms are used to propel the icebreaker through the ice field in a direction at a substantial angle to its keel line, thereby opening in one pass of the icebreaker a passage having a width substantially greater than the waterline width of the icebreaker.

摘要: A water equilibrating arrangement for a marine vessel comprises a trough that is in fluid flow communication with first and second closed or closeable compartments that are separated by an essentially imperforate structure and a baffle that extends downward from the imperforate structure into the trough and defines a passage that provides fluid flow communication between the compartments. In the event that water enters one of the compartments due to damage to the vessel, water can flow rapidly into the other compartment for equilibrating water load in the two compartments. Flow of gas through the trough is prevented when a substantial portion of the trough is filled with a liquid or a flowable solid or semi-solid material.
