Abstract:
A semiconductor wafer (1) has a multitude of chips (5), of which chips (5) each one of a given number of chips (5) is situated in one of a multitude of adjacent exposure fields (2), and further has process control modules (4) which are each arranged in an exposure field (2), namely each in place of at least one chip (5).
Abstract:
A point-to-point communications device (SS) which is capable of generating melodic alerts, each alert being generated using numeric data in a received message. The device includes a controller (36) programmed with an algorithm for dividing the digits in a decoded message into one or two digit fields. One digit fields are used respectively to determine the tempo (t) and the number of times (p) a sequence of notes is played and two digit fields are used to select notes.
Abstract:
A network communications system comprises a number of user stations (10,24), coupled via a data network (12) to a number of service provider host systems (14,16). The user stations (10) are registered as client stations at the host system (16) of a service provider, with the host system maintaining a database of registered client station identification data. The host system additionally maintains a directory of the client stations that are on-line at a given time, determined from periodic messages sent to the host by each client station. Callers (24,28) wishing to contact a client station (10) user first contact the service provider (16) which, from the directory, determines whether the user is currently on-line. If so, a paging message is generated by the service provider from data supplied by the caller and sent via the network (12) to the client station (10), the address of which is held in the service provider database.
Abstract:
A method and device for the manufacture of a hollow cone (37) with a cone tip (31) whereby a parison of viscous material (35) is moulded into the shape of the hollow cone. An escape space (11) becomes accessible to the material in the vicinity of a cone tip to be formed. The moment the pressure present in the material in the vicinity of the cone tip to be formed exceeds a previously defined value. Breaking-off of the cone tip during or after moulding is prevented by this. The hollow cone is suitable inter alia for use in a cathode ray tube.
Abstract:
In multimedia method a screen-based host with processing and I/O facilities interacts with distributed items that are arranged for storing and exchanging digital information with the host. In particular, under proximity conditions the items exchange accordingly with the host, but without requiring formatted berth facilities of the host. The various items through associated self-identifying evoke specific iconizing by the host for signalling to a user an associated service field. The host allows a user person to activate data processing operations with respect to the service field. During proximity conditions the item keeps abreast of host-generated results relevant to its service field. The host allows free styling of the items with respect to their physical shape.
Abstract:
A method is described for setting an optimum write power for recording information on an optical recording medium. A series of test patterns (20null, 21null, 22null) is written on the medium, the test patterns being written with different write powers. The values of the write power in subsequent test patterns form a symmetrical pattern. On reading the test patterns, the modulation of each read signal is determined. An optimum value of the write power is determined from the modulations.
Abstract:
A mirror projection system for use in a step-and-scan lithographic projection apparatus in which a mask pattern (15) is repetitively scan-imaged on a number of areas of a substrate (20) by means of a beam (b) of EUV radiation having a circular segment-shaped cross-section. This system, which is easier to manufacture at lower cost than a projection system with six or more imaging mirrors, has only five imaging mirrors (5-9) with a good numerical aperture and an acceptable image-ringfield width. An EUV lithographic projection apparatus provided with the new projection system has a wafer throughput which is approximately 50% higher than that of an apparatus provided with a six-mirror projection system. Moreover, it has a compact construction.
Abstract:
An encoding circuit transforms a picture signal into blocks of, for example, 8*8 coefficients, in which each block of coefficients is read motion- adaptively. In the case of motion within a sub-picture, the block of coefficients is read in such an order that the obtained series of coefficients includes, as it were, two interleaved sub-series. The first series starts with a dc component. In a first embodiment, the second series starts with the most relevant motion coefficient. In a second embodiment, two interlaced sub-fields are separately transformed and the second series also starts with a dc coefficient. As a result, the coefficients are transmitted as much as possible in their order of significance. This particularly produces the largest possible clusters of zero value coefficients. Such clusters are transmitted as one compact run-length code so that an effective bit rate reduction is achieved, also for moving pictures.
Abstract:
In a module tape (1) comprising modules (2) and comprising a carrier layer (19) to which a plurality of contact-bound-mode module contact zones (9, 10, 11) are attached at the location of a first layer side (20) and to which a plurality of contactless-mode module contact zones (14, 15) are attached at the location of a second layer side (22), the contactless-mode module contact zones (14, 15) are formed by conductor zones deposited on the carrier layer (19) by means of a printing method.
