Abstract:
A vacuum chamber is provided for sputter deposition of a semiconductor homojunction. A target made of a semiconductor compound containing at least one non-metallic element is provided. A substrate for receiving the sputtered species from the target to form sequential layers of deposited semiconductor material is also provided. An electric field is provided between the target and the substrate. An inert gas is introduced sequentially at a plurality of discrete partial pressures to adjust the incident energy of the sputtered species by thermalization, for altering the mean free path of the sputtered and incident species to control the ratio of non-metallic to metallic elements in the deposited semiconductor material and create a plurality of different semiconductor material layers.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure can provide a face recognition method of increased robustness. The face recognition method can include receiving a target face image, initializing a registration and a block analysis of the target face image identifying one or more portions of the target face image for face recognition, informing a user of the registration and the block analysis, receiving one or more instructions from the user for operating on the registration and the block analysis, and identifying the target face image from a plurality of face images based on the registration and the block analysis of the target face image when the registration and the block analysis are approved by the user.
Abstract:
A method for processing data for use with a video display includes compressing image data of one or more color planes on a line-by-line basis using lossy compression, wherein at least one lossy compression scheme of a plurality of lossy compression schemes is designated for each line of the plurality of lines to form compressed image data on the line-by-line basis.
Abstract:
An privacy keypad providing privacy for keypad character entry and concealment of a joint in an escutcheon. A privacy keypad may include a faceplate, a keypad disposed on the faceplate, and at least one protrusion integral with the faceplate. An escutcheon for a door lock may include a housing, a keypad disposed on the housing for unlocking the door lock, and at least one protrusion integral with the housing. The protrusion may obstruct at least partially a line of sight to the keypad. An escutcheon may include top and bottom covers with the top cover projecting outward from the surface of a door more than the lower cover, resulting in an at least partially hidden joint between covers. Top and bottom covers may be interchangeable with covers having similar edges.
Abstract:
A sputtering apparatus is constructed in modular form to facilitate changes in sputtering processes and target materials. At least two sputtering modules and a pumping stack module are arranged in series and in any desired order between a load module and an exit module. Each module is attached to another module by sealingly abutting flanges which are connected by externally accessible bolts. The use of gate valves between the modules is avoided by the provision of connecting sleeves which are each at least as long as the mean free path of the sputtered target atoms.
