Abstract:
A method for the preparation of a 2-hydroxyarylaldehyde which comprises reacting an aryloxymagnesium halide derived from a phenol having at least one free ortho position relative to the phenolic hydroxy group with formaldehyde or a formaldehyde-liberating compound under substantially anhydrous conditions in the presence of a polar organic solvent other than hexamethylphosphoramide or 1,3-dimethyl-3,4,5,6-2(1H)-pyrimidone.
Abstract:
Crystalline Cannabidiol of a novel form, including (R,R)-(−)-crystalline Cannabidiol, as well as methods of making such novel form of Cannabidiol, pharmaceutical formulations comprising such novel form of Cannabidiol, and methods of treating diseases with such novel form of Cannabidiol.
Abstract:
A system and method for determining a speed profile for a vehicle travelling along a road in which a curve speed estimation unit receives inputs indicating a position of the vehicle relative to a curve ahead of the vehicle, and inputs related to vehicle velocity, curve geometry, road surface conditions, vehicle-specific data; and driver preferences. The curve sped estimation unit use at least some of the above-listed inputs to determine a speed profile for the curve by generating an acceleration limit map which depends on a relationship between a maximum possible longitudinal acceleration and a maximum possible lateral acceleration.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to a method for improving the reliability of a portion of physiological data from an image sensor monitoring an operator positioned in an operator compartment of a vehicle. An embodiment of the method includes receiving, from the image sensor, physiological data including information relating to at least one of eye, face, head, arms and body motion of the operator, identifying an indication of at least an eyelid closure, eye movement or head movement of the operator based on the physiological data; comparing at least one of the physiological data and a lighting condition within the operator compartment with a set of rules for a current operator status; and classifying the type of eyelid closure, eye movement and/or head movement by correlating the identified eyelid closure, eye movement and/or head movement and a result of the comparison.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are processes for preparing aqueous γ-hydroxybutyrate having a pH of about 8 or less (upon reaching equilibrium). The disclosed processes include both continuous processes and batch processes wherein the ratio of reactants is controlled to provide the product at the desired pH.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a processes for the synthesis of trans isomer of 4,6-disubstituted-tetrahydro-furo, thieno, pyrrolo and cyclopenta-[3,4][1,3]dioxoles (Formula I). The process comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining a compound of Formula II, which is a mixture of cis and trans-diastereomers, and (b) chemically decomposing the compound of Formula II in a solution comprising a solvent and an acid that is a hydrogen donor or an electron pair acceptor, whereby the cis diastereomer is decomposed and the compound of Formula I is obtained. The compounds prepared by the present invention are useful in treating diseases or conditions associated with platelet aggregation and/or platelet activation.
Abstract:
A process is described for reacting a vinylogous amide with an α,β-unsaturated ketone in the presence of a silicon compound to form an 1,5-diketone which is converted to a 1,4-dihydropyridine. Asymmetric substituted 1,4-dihydropyridines are synthesized by the process by preparing an asymmetric vinylogous amide by reacting a 1,3-cyclohexanedione with a substantially homo-chiral phenylethylamine. Reaction of the asymmetric vinylogous amide with an α,β-unsaturated ketone in the presence of a silicon compound forms an asymmetric 1,5-diketone. The 1,5-diketone is converted to an asymmetric substituted 1,4-dihydropyridine.
