    摘要: A dual orientation connector having a connector tab with first and second major opposing sides and a plurality of electrical contacts carried by the connector tab. The plurality of contacts includes a first set of external contacts formed at the first major side and a second set of external contacts formed at the second major side. The first plurality of contacts are symmetrically spaced with the second plurality of contacts and the connector tab is shaped to have 180 degree symmetry so that it can be inserted and operatively coupled to a corresponding receptacle connector in either of two insertion orientations.

    摘要: Disclosed are plug connector assemblies having external contacts formed on only one surface of a connector body of the assembly. In some embodiments, the connector body includes a plastic tip integrally formed within a ground ring that is otherwise made from metal. Additionally, in some embodiments, the plug connector has a base portion with feet on opposing sides of the plug that each includes a hole that can be used to attach the plug connector to an encasing or other structure of a base electronic device it is incorporated into. In some embodiments, the plug connector extends upwardly away from the base at a predetermined angle such that the contacts are located on the side of the plug connector that forms an acute angle with the base.

    摘要: A very small form factor consumer electronic product includes at least a single piece housing having an integral front and side walls that cooperate to form a cavity in cooperation with a front opening where an edge of the side walls define a rear opening and at least some of the edges have flanges. The consumer electronic product also includes an user input assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the front opening and a clip assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the rear opening and having an external user actionable clip, a plurality of internal hooking features, and a plurality of internal latching features. The clip assembly is secured by engaging at least some of the hooking features and the flanges on the edges of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on the internal support plate.

    摘要: An electrical connection assembly includes a connector and a cable. The connector includes a plug having a multitude of contacts in electrical communication with the cable wires. The connector further includes a body in which a printed circuit board is inserted. The cable wires are soldered to the bonding pads of the printed circuit board which is encapsulated by an adhesive. The connector further includes a metallic shield enclosing the body and providing a path to the ground. An inner mold encapsulates the space enclosed by the metallic shield. The metallic shield is optionally formed from a pair of metallic shields cans that are crimped and laser welded. The assembly further includes a sleeve attached at a rear face of the metallic shield, an enclosure attached to the connector body, and a pair of face plates attached between the enclosure and the body.

The cable structures can include a ground conductor that is broken up into multiple, smaller ground conductors that are physically separate and distinct from each other with the cable structure (and which can be terminated together in, for example, the connectors at the ends of the cable assembly). The cable structure may also include conductors having insulating material formed from FEP and/or wire mesh shield elements configured for high durability during bending and twisting of the assembled cable. An extrusion process can be used to manufacture the final, fully-assembled cable structure.
