    摘要： The present invention provides a multi-function apparatus comprises a pressure plate for pressing an original placed on an original support plate, a read means for reading an image of the original on the original support plate, a reception means for receiving data representing an image, a record means for recording images based on the image read by the read means and the data received by the reception means, a detection means for detecting open/close of the pressure plate, a changeover means for changing a first mode and a second mode, the first mode being to record by using the record means the image based on the image read by the read means, and the second mode being to record by using the record means the image based on the data received by the reception means, wherein the changeover means changes, in a case where the data is received by the reception means during the first mode is being set, the mode to the second mode if a predetermined period of time is elapsed from the detection by the detection means that the pressure plate was closed, whereby the efficiency of a copy function process can be improved in the multi-function apparatus.

    摘要： An enlargement/reduction ratio setting unit 205 sets an enlargement/reduction ratio in accordance with the resolution of an input image and the resolution of an output image. A smoothing unit 201 smoothes the input image. A dither/line-gathered area detector 202 detects a dither/line-gathered area of the input image in accordance with the set enlargement/reduction ratio, and controls a switch 203 based on the detection result. Smoothing the image before enlargement/reduction is controlled in accordance with the enlargement/reduction ratio and the feature of an image area including a pixel of interest. This results in an output image of excellent image quality.

The image formation apparatus includes an image carrier and a laser device for scanning the image carrier along a plurality of scan lines. Each scan line is divided into segments having segment boundaries in which the same segment boundary in adjacent scan lines are offset. The frequency modulation device generates frequency data for use in modulating the input image data, which is utilized by the laser device to scan the image carrier, which permits output of an electrophotograph of high image quality by suppressing segment boundaries caused by moiré fringes or color shifting to below a level at which such boundaries are not visually detectable.

    摘要： A power supply controller for use in an image formation apparatus includes a first control circuit for controlling the image formation apparatus to form an image, a second control circuit for controlling electric power supplied to the image formation apparatus, a first power supply for supplying electric power to the first control circuit, a second power supply for supplying electric power to the second control circuit, and a third power supply for supplying electric power to a load in the image formation apparatus. The apparatus further includes a dew protection switch operable in an on-state and an off-state. The on-state sets an operation mode of the image formation apparatus to prevent dew condensation inside the image formation apparatus. Finally, the apparatus includes a low power consumption mode setting device for setting a low power consumption mode of the image forming apparatus. When the low power consumption mode is set and the dew protection switch is in the on-state, the second control circuit turns off the third power supply and maintains operation of the first and second power supplies. When the dew protection switch is in the off-state, the second control circuit turns off the first and third power supplies and maintains operation of the second power supply.

The generated image data is separated into a plurality of sets of image data having a lattice arrangement, and each of which has the same color. The two sets of coded data are then stored in a memory for subsequent transfer to an image output device.
