    摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of light sources that emits a plurality of light beams arrayed in the sub-scanning direction via an optical system, a filter calculation unit that performs filter calculation of increasing or reducing a density of image data according to wideness or narrowness between a plurality of scanning lines formed on a photosensitive member when the light beams from the plurality of light sources are scanned on the photosensitive member, and a drive circuit that causes light beam emission from the plurality of light sources based on the image data that has undergone the filter calculation by the filter calculation unit.

    摘要： The conventional techniques cannot set optimal energy saving modes separately for a plurality of loads and can hardly attain further suppression of power consumption. To accomplish this, in an image forming apparatus including a main circuit board which has a master CPU and controls the operation of the entire image forming apparatus, and a plurality of sub circuit boards each have a slave CPU and control each corresponding control target, the operating condition of each slave CPU is stored in correspondence with the operation mode of the image forming apparatus, and, upon being notified of the operation modes of the image forming apparatus, the slave CPU of each of the plurality of sub circuit boards sets the operation status of the slave CPU by referring to the table of the operation modes.

    摘要： An image pickup apparatus having difference encoding and non-linear processing of image signals includes a difference encoding circuit for quantizing a difference between signals from adjacent pixels, every other pixel, or pixels having a same color filter, in a solid-state image pickup element. A non-linear processing circuit non-linearly processes the output from the difference encoding circuit. An apparatus main body has an output terminal for supplying an output from the non-linear processing circuit, and a storage body capable of recording the output from the apparatus output terminal is coupled to the main body.

    摘要： A frequency modulation device for use in an image forming apparatus. The image formation apparatus includes an image carrier and a laser device for scanning the image carrier along a plurality of scan lines. Each scan line is divided into segments having segment boundaries in which the same segment boundary in adjacent scan lines are offset. The frequency modulation device generates frequency data for use in modulating the input image data, which is utilized by the laser device to scan the image carrier, which permits output of an electrophotograph of high image quality by suppressing segment boundaries caused by moiré fringes or color shifting to below a level at which such boundaries are not visually detectable.
