    摘要: A prosthetic patellar component includes a base and a bearing element that includes first and second femoral engaging surfaces disposed between first and second (superior/inferior) edge surfaces. The edge surfaces are curved to provide a gradual transition from a posterior facing portion to a nearly vertical superior or inferior facing portion. Moreover, the inferior-superior dimension of the component is at least approximately 90% of the medial-lateral dimension. The relative height and gradually transitioning edges significantly reduce the likelihood of sudden posterior rotation during deep flexion movement. The edge surfaces extend from a substantially posterior facing portion proximate to the first and second femoral engaging surfaces and a substantially vertical facing portion proximate the base. The curved edge surfaces can include a plurality of adjacent medial-laterally extending surface portions having angular displacement relative to an adjacent surface portion of less than 30 degrees in the anterior-posterior direction.

    摘要: There is disclosed in the specification a tire repair device and kit for inserting plugging material typically in the form of rubber coated twisted strands into a tire puncture. The device and kit is provided with one or more interchangeable tools such as a strand inserting needle, an awl, a knife, and screwdriver, said tools being interchangeably joinable with the handle of said device. In operation the awl is first joined with said handle and used to enlarge the puncture, if necessary. The inserting needle tool is then joined to the handle. The plug material is threaded into the open eye of the needle and inserted into the puncture. The inserting motion is limited by a stop bushing captive on said needle tool so that the ends of the strands are not drawn into the puncture. The stop also limits the withdrawal of the needle. After the strand has been inserted in accordance with the present invention the knife tool may then be attached to said handle and used to trim off any excess strand of material extending out of the puncture.

    摘要: A distal femoral osteotomy system and method according to which an end segment is cut from the bone to be realigned and a wedge-shaped segment is cut from between the end segment and the remaining portion of the bone. The wedge-shaped segment is cut so that it has an angled surface substantially corresponding to the angle of malalignment. The wedge-shaped segment is discarded and the severed end segment is repositioned relative to the remaining portion of the bone at an angle corresponding to the angle of malalignment to realign the end segment and the remaining bone portion and correct for the malalignment. A compressive load is then established across the remaining bone portion and the end segment.
