An optical connector cleaning tool includes a cylindrical connecting portion to which an optical connector is connected, a cleaning unit configured to guide a cleaning thread to a coupling end face of an optical connector plug, and an optical unit having an optical path reaching the optical connector plug. The optical unit includes a lens arranged in a position facing the coupling end face to form one end portion of an optical system, and having a missing portion extending in an optical-axis direction, and an image sensor positioned at the other end of the optical system. The cleaning unit includes a rod-like cleaning tip having a thread passage through which the cleaning thread passes. The cleaning tip is inserted into a hollow portion of the lens having the missing portion extending in the optical-axis direction, such that the cleaning tip is movable in a longitudinal direction thereof.

A method for fabricating a blanking aperture array device for multi-beams includes forming, using a substrate over which a first insulating film, a first metal film, a second insulating film, and a second metal film are laminated in order, electrodes and pads on the second metal film, removing a part of the second metal film, removing the second insulating film using, as a mask, the electrodes, the pads, and a remaining part of the second metal film, and forming openings each being between a pair of electrodes, wherein, a part of the second metal film is etched such that some part of it remains in regions each connecting one of the electrodes and one of the pads, and a region in which entire openings are formed except the openings themselves is configured by the electrodes, pads, and first and second metal films such that the insulating film is not exposed.

An embodiment of the invention of this application provides a polishing pad that eliminates a gap between an optical connector and a polishing film during polishing. A polishing pad of the embodiment is used by being placed between a polishing platen and a polishing sheet in a case of performing spherical polishing of an end surface of an optical connector including an optical fiber and a ferrule. The optical connector polishing pad of the embodiment has rebound resilience higher than 20%. The optical connector polishing pad of the embodiment can be formed from a urethane-based material.

An optical connector cleaning tool includes a cleaning tool main body, a feed-side bobbin, a cleaning head (cleaning portion), a winding-side bobbin, a moving body that moves at the time of cleaning, a feed mechanism that sends an unused cleaning medium in synchronism with the moving body, and a winding mechanism that drives the winding-side bobbin. The feed mechanism moves a turn-back portion at one point where the cleaning medium is turned back in a direction to separate from the winding-side bobbin. The winding mechanism includes a driving piece that engages with a rotation body of the winding-side bobbin. The driving piece slips with respect to the rotation body when a load to press engaging projections of the rotation body has reached a predetermined load.

A polishing method and a polishing film are provided for automatically performing multi-stage batch polishing on an end surface of a workpiece. An end surface of a workpiece and a polishing plate are moved relative to each other while bringing the end surface of the workpiece into contact with a polishing film of the polishing plate. The end surface is moved in a circular motion with a diameter 2 R relative to the polishing film; the center of the circular motion is moved linearly by a distance S on the polishing film; the polishing film is provided with first, second, and third polishing surfaces; and the polishing film is further provided with cleaning surfaces between the polishing surfaces so that the range of the distance S in which one rotation in the circular motion crosses over different polishing surfaces is reduced, or does not cross over different polishing surfaces.

An optical connector cleaner comprising a supply reel, a take-up reel, a case, an operation lever, a take-up mechanism, and a holding member. The supply reel stores a cleaning cloth member having one end side wounded thereon. The take-up reel takes up the other end side of the cleaning cloth member. The case has a connector connection portion on which the cleaning cloth member is exposed. The operation lever that has an operation portion projecting from the case and is swingably supported. The take-up mechanism rotates the take-up reel in a take-up direction by a predetermined angle when the operation lever swings. The holding member holds an optical connector on the connector connection portion in a state in which a coupling face of the optical connector is pressed against the cleaning cloth member exposed to the connector connection portion.

A water-repellent coating has tetrafluoroethylene resin powder, silicone resin binder, and organic solvent. The tetrafluoroethylene resin powder has a ratio of the peak absorbance at 1,800 cmnull1 to the peak absorbance at 500 cm null1 of 0.0001 to 0.05 exclusive. A coating film is formed by applying such a coating on a substrate. The coating has the properties of high water repellency, excellent anti-ice-coating, excellent anti-snow-coating, and so on, in spite of not having a large amount of fluororesin powder. In addition, the coating of film keeps the water repellency regardless of whether the coating film is immersed into water for a long time.
