Abstract:
A firmware repository includes an Extensible Markup Language (XML) description file. A system and method for managing the repository is described.
Abstract:
A method for managing users' digital rights to documents protected by digital rights management (DRM), comprising the steps of a rights management system (RMS) server receiving a request from a user for accessing a DRM-protected document, and the RMS server executing a user centric adaptor (UCA) module to check in a UCA database under the user's identification (ID) whether one of a limited number of predetermined policies of digital rights is added to the user's ID, whereas if the user's rights to the document is not revoked by deletion of a predetermined policy under the user's ID in the UCA database, then the UCA module does not block granting the user's request.
Abstract:
A secure system for user authentication comprised of an authentication interface having a character dial and alignment markers is provided. A passcode input module receives user commands to move the character dial with respect to the alignment markers and to record a configuration of the characters with respect to the alignment markers, thereby creating alignment configuration data. A passcode generation module receives at least one of said alignment configuration data from passcode input module and generates a plurality of passcode hypotheses. An authentication module receives the passcode hypotheses and compares the passcode hypotheses with the passcodes of registered users stored in a data store. The passcode hypotheses are updated after each new alignment configuration data entered by the user. The authentication module authenticates a user upon finding a passcode hypothesis matching a stored passcode.
Abstract:
A method and system for updating a group of network nodes, such as a group of MFPs, with replacement software in a manner that improves network performance and the predictability of a completion time for installation of the replacement software involves throttling distribution of a software update package to avoid resource oversubscription while time-bounding distribution so that installation of the software update on all of the network nodes can be completed by a certain time and, in some embodiments, further involves determining a start time for distribution of the software update package based at least in part on a scheduled installation time selected by a network administrator, which provides a high degree of confidence that installation of the software update across the entire group of network nodes will be completed around a scheduled time (e.g. during “off hours”) notwithstanding the staggered distribution of the software update package.
Abstract:
An imaging device with an adaptive power saving behavior conserves power by establishing reduced power mode entry and/or exit timeout values based on device usage statistics. Such an imaging device in some embodiments comprises at least one interface and a processor communicatively coupled with the interface, wherein under control of the processor the imaging device determines usage statistics for the imaging device based on jobs received on the interface and selects a power save entry timeout value for the imaging device based on the usage statistics.

Abstract:
A remote wakeup capability for an imaging device, such as a multifunction printer (MFP) device. When the imaging device enters a power saving mode, a remote wakeup web service remains awake and initiates wakeup of the imaging device in response to a valid wakeup request received from a remote wakeup web service client module. Wakeup of the imaging device is thus achieved without a need for action on the imaging device front panel or a local client device connected to the imaging device via a serial or parallel port, and without wasting resources processing a superfluous imaging job.
Abstract:
A reconfigurable vehicle user interface system is presented. A vehicle user interface has a touch sensitive input devices such as touchpads and a touch screen that have specific function commands mapped to them. A user can select which function commands are mapped to which portions of the touch screen. This allows a user to customize the steering wheel function commands.
Abstract:
A remote power save service for an imaging device is provided. When the imaging device is awake, a power save controller on the imaging device causes the imaging device to enter a reduced power mode in response to a valid power save request received from a remote power save client. Entry into a reduced power mode by the imaging device is thereby achieved without waiting for timeout and without a need for action on the imaging device front panel. Moreover, where an imaging device supports multiple reduced power modes, a power save controller on the imaging device causes the imaging device to enter the particular one of the reduced power modes indicated in the power save request received from the remote power save client.
