Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) sensing device in an assembly is adapted to wirelessly communicate with a remote transceiver. The sensing device includes a substrate; an antenna disposed on the substrate; an electronic circuit disposed on the substrate and electrically coupled to the antenna; a heating element electrically coupled to the electronic circuit for heating a target area; and a sensing element thermally coupled to the heating element for sensing a temperature of the heating element. The RF sensing device is configured to wirelessly receive a power and provides the power to the heating element.

Abstract: Embodiments include wireless authentication devices, systems, and methods. A wireless authentication system can include an active wireless communication device including a first memory, first processing circuitry, and a first antenna, the first processing circuitry to produce an identifier request for an identifier (ID) and cause the first antenna to transmit the identifier request, receive the ID in a response to the identifier request, identify, based on the ID and data in the first memory, a location of a second memory to access, and produce an access request for the identified location of the second memory and cause the first antenna to transmit the access request. The system can further include a passive wireless communication device comprising a second memory, second processing circuitry, a second antenna, and a power harvesting circuitry to convert electromagnetic power incident on the second antenna to electrical power for the second memory and the second processing circuitry, the second processing circuitry to produce the response to the identifier request, the response including the ID, and cause the second antenna to produce the response, receive the access request, retrieve data from or write data to the identified location of the second memory based on the access request, and cause the second antenna to transmit the response to the access request.

Abstract: A system for monitoring one or more of an abrading tool, a consumable abrasive product and a workpiece, the system can optionally comprise: a data storage device; a sensor; a communication unit; a consumable abrasive product that is attachable to and detachable from the abrading tool and configured to abrade the workpiece; a computing system comprising one or more computing devices configured to: receive a first data from the communication unit regarding the sensor, the first data indicative of at least one operating parameter of one or more of the abrading tool, the consumable abrasive product and the workpiece; identify if the at least one operating parameter falls outside a predetermined operating parameter range; and if the at least one operating parameter falls outside a predetermined operating parameter range, store a second data based upon the first data in the data storage device.

Abstract: At least some aspects of the present disclosure feature a mobile sensing system comprising a sensing device for measuring a thermal property of an object, comprising an RF circuit and an antenna electronically coupled to the RF circuit, a sensor electronically coupled to the RF circuit, and a thermal source thermally coupled to the sensor and electronically coupled to the RF circuit, a mobile device having a processor, an RF reader connected to or integrated with the mobile device, wherein the RF reader is configured to interrogate the sensing device; wherein the sensing device receives power when the RF reader interrogates the sensing device and provides at least a portion of the power to the thermal source.
