Abstract:
Certain aspects are directed to a base station router disposed in a distributed antenna system. The base station router includes a backplane and a controller. The backplane can manage an availability of sectors for coverage zones. Each sector can include communication channels to be radiated to mobile devices in the coverage zones and can represent an amount of telecommunication capacity. The controller can respond to a traffic indicator by causing the backplane to redistribute the availability of at least one sector. The sector can be redistributed from a first coverage zone to a second coverage zone.
Abstract:
A multi-band antenna system includes an array of wide-band radiating elements and a multi-band electrical tilt circuit. The multi-band electrical tilt circuit includes a plurality of combiners, a first RE band variable phase shifter and a second RF band variable phase shifter implemented in a common medium. The common medium may comprise a PCB, a stripline circuit, or the like. Each combiner includes a combined port, a first RF band port, and a second RF band port. The combined ports are coupled to the radiating elements. The first RF band phase shifter has a first plurality of variably phase shifted ports connected to the first RF band ports of the combiners via transmission line, and the second RF band phase shifter has a second plurality of variably phase-shifted ports connected to the second RF band ports of the combiners via transmission line. The phase shifters are independently configurable.
Abstract:
Methods of operating a cellular radio are provided in which a first power supply signal is transmitted from a power supply to a wireless power unit at least in part over a power cable. A second power supply signal is wirelessly transmitted from the wireless power unit to the cellular radio to power the cellular radio. Data is transmitted from a baseband unit that is associated with the cellular radio to a wireless transceiver at least in part over a data cable. This data is wirelessly transmitted from the wireless transceiver to the cellular radio. The data is then transmitted through an antenna that is coupled to the cellular radio.
Abstract:
Tower systems suitable for use at cellular base stations include a tower, an antenna mounted on the tower, a remote radio head mounted on the tower and a power supply. A power cable having a power supply conductor and a return conductor is connected between the power supply and the remote radio head. A shunt capacitance unit that is separate from the remote radio head that is electrically coupled between the power supply conductor and the return conductor of the power cable.
Abstract:
Certain aspects are directed to a base station router for use within an analog distributed antenna system. The base station router comprises circuitry configured to: receive digital signals representing radio frequency channels from at least one base station; convert the digital signals to analog radio frequency signals; and communicate analog signals derived from the analog radio frequency signals to a plurality of remote antenna units of the analog distributed antenna system using analog communication links, the analog signals used for transmission of the analog radio frequency signals at each of a plurality of coverage zones at an antenna associated with each remote antenna unit of the plurality of remote antenna units.
Abstract:
Certain aspects are directed to an interceptor system for characterizing digital data communicated between certain points in a telecommunication system. The interceptor system includes an interface device and a processing device. The interface device can retrieve data from at least one communication link between a radio frequency processing unit and a baseband processing unit of a telecommunication system. The data includes digital data communicated between the radio frequency processing unit and the baseband processing unit. The processing device can determine an interface link protocol for communicating with terminal equipment via the telecommunication system. The interface link protocol can be determined based on an organization of the data retrieved from the communication link.
Abstract:
Multi-band antennas include one or more duplexers configured to provide isolation of non-linearities generated along a downlink path of RF signals transmitted from the multi-band antenna from an uplink path of RF signals received by the multi-band antenna.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for high efficiency power conversion are provided. In one embodiment, a high efficiency electric power converter circuit comprises: an electric power converter that provides a first electric power output; a storage device that provides a second electric power output; and a power arbitrating switch that receives the first and second electric power outputs and selectively supplies a third electric power output using at least one of the first electric power output and the second electric power output. The switch is configured with a first sensor to measure a charge level of the device and with a second sensor to measure a power demand drawn from the third electric power output. The power arbitrating switch switches the third electric power output between being supplied from the first electric power output and being supplied from the second electric power output based on the power demand and the charge level.
