Abstract: A system that performs a method is disclosed. The system detects one or more characteristics about a vehicle via a first set of one or more sensors and determines one or more characteristics about the vehicle's surroundings via a second set of one or more sensors. The system also detects a vehicle failure via the first set of one or more sensors. In response to detecting the vehicle failure via the first one or more sensors, the system selects one or more road hazard indicators using the one or more characteristics about the vehicle's surroundings. After selecting the one or more road hazard indicators using the one or more characteristics about the vehicle's surroundings, the system deploys the one or more road hazard indicators.

Abstract: A multi-processor architecture for automated driving systems can be used to improve performance and provide design flexibility. For example, a multi-processor architecture can be used to implement command generation and safety functionality in different processors. The command generation processor can be a high performing processor compared with the safety processor. The safety processor can verify the safety of commands output from the command generation processor and provide additional I/O channels that are typically absent on high performing processors. Additionally, processing of some sensor data can be moved to expansion modules with additional processors to reduce bottlenecks and provide design flexibility for systems with different sensing requirements.

Abstract: A system that performs a method is disclosed. Image data from a first camera mounted on a vehicle is received, the vehicle including a first element configured to open into a first space external to the vehicle, and the image data indicative of motion of a first object during a first time period, the first object located outside of the first space. Whether the motion of the first object during the first time period indicates that the first object will interfere with operation of the first element during a second time period, after the first time period, is determined. In accordance with a determination that the motion of the first object indicates that the first object will interfere with the operation of the first element during the second time period, an action that avoids the interference is performed.

Abstract: A vehicle modular side view mirror assembly is disclosed. The mirror base has a first section capable of attachment to a vehicle and a second section capable of attachment to a mirror head, wherein the second section is movable relative to the first section. The mirror assembly can include a mirror head having a reflective surface and a motor for moving the mirror head relative to a mirror base, the mirror head detachably connectable to the mirror base. Lidar sensors can be mounted in addition to, or in place of, the side view mirrors. Interchangeable modular heads can allow a user to customize the vehicle to have mirror heads, sensors, both, or neither. Mirror bases can move, allowing the mirrors and/or sensors to be positioned at different angles. In some configurations, the position of the sensors can be dynamically adjusted according to the speed and/or direction of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle control system capable of moving a vehicle to a target location is disclosed. According to a preferred embodiment, a camera captures one or more images of a known object corresponding to the target location. Abstract: In embodiments of the disclosure, location information can be used to automatically set a parking meter time reminder on a user's mobile device. For example, after determining that the user has parked once a destination has been reached, the user's location can be used to determine if the vehicle has been parked at a parking meter (or other timed parking), and a reminder can be set based on a time limit associated with that parking location. The reminder can display periodic notifications on the user's mobile device until it is detected that the user has driven the vehicle away from the parking spot.

Abstract: A vehicle includes one or more dimmable mirrors, one or more cameras configured to capture images of surroundings of the vehicle, and one or more processors coupled to the one or more dimmable mirrors and the one or more cameras. The one or more processors are configured to identify one or more headlights of another vehicle in the captured images, determine whether the one or more headlights satisfy mirror dimming criteria, including a criterion that is satisfied when the one or more headlights are located in a respective region of the captured images, in accordance with a determination that the one or more headlights satisfy the mirror dimming criteria, dim the dimmable mirrors based on one or more characteristics of the one or more headlights, and in accordance with a determination that the one or more headlights do not satisfy the mirror dimming criteria, forgo dimming the dimmable mirrors.

Abstract: Systems and methods for remotely providing access to a secured vehicle are disclosed. The methods can include receiving a permission parameter from a primary user authorizing a secondary user to enter, receiving an access permission request from a secondary user, evaluating the access permission request for compliance with the permission parameter, and unlocking a door of the vehicle to allow the secondary user to access the vehicle. The permission parameter can include time, user, and proximity criteria for secondary user entry. Systems for remotely providing access to a secured vehicle or location can include a central telematics unit in communication with portable electronic user devices such as smartphones.
