Abstract: A system for selecting an optimized parking location for a vehicle includes a data processor, a plurality of sensors within the vehicle, and a user model based on historical data of parking events for the vehicle, the data processor is adapted to collect parking preferences for a driver of the vehicle, identify a destination of the vehicle, identify a current location of the vehicle, collect data from a plurality of sensors within the vehicle, collect data from external sources and create a list of potential parking spaces, access the user model, rank the potential parking spaces based on the parking preferences of the driver, the data from external sources and the user model, and provide an output based on parking preferences for the driver of the vehicle and the user model.

Abstract: A vehicle including an autonomic vehicle control system is described. A method for operating the vehicle includes, during operation of the autonomic vehicle control system, determining vehicle and environmental operating conditions and extra-vehicle conditions when the autonomic vehicle control system is activated. A confidence level associated with operation of the autonomic vehicle control system is determined based upon the vehicle operating conditions, the environmental operating conditions and the extra-vehicle conditions. The confidence level associated with the operation of the autonomic vehicle control system is transmitted via an operator interface device.

Abstract: Systems and method are provided for requesting remote control of an autonomous vehicle by a remote transportation system. In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving, by a processor of the autonomous vehicle, experience data associated with the autonomous vehicle, wherein the experience data includes a location of the autonomous vehicle, a time of day, a pose of the autonomous vehicle, detected freespace in an environment of the autonomous vehicle, detected congestion in the environment, a planned maneuver type, and an associated maneuver graph; determining, by the processor, one or more features of a planned maneuver based on the experience data; determining, by the processor, a risk value associated with the planned mission by processing the one or more features with a machine learning model; and selectively generating, by the processor, request data to the remote transportation system based on the risk value, wherein the request data includes the risk value.

Abstract: A system for initiating and executing an automated lane change maneuver in a vehicle may include a steering wheel interface having a display; and a monitor to detect a viewing direction of the user. The interface may detect a first predetermined gesture by the user; in response to the first predetermined gesture, transmit a first signal to the vehicle instructing the vehicle to prepare for the automated lane change maneuver; display a status of the automated lane change maneuver; display a prompt for the user to visually confirm safety of the automated lane change maneuver. The monitor may continuously detect the viewing direction of the user; and in response to the viewing direction of the user changing, transmit a second signal to the vehicle instructing the vehicle to execute the automated lane change maneuver.

Abstract: A processor-implemented path planning method in a vehicle is disclosed. The method includes retrieving road surface information along a planned path for the vehicle; constructing, by the processor, a model of the road surface along the planned path; identifying, by the processor, a road irregularity in the road surface for the planned path; classifying, by the processor, the road irregularity; projecting the location of vehicle tire patches on the model of the road surface; predicting, by the processor, vehicle sprung-mass dynamics as a function of time for the vehicle along the planned path; calculating a plurality of alternative path trajectories within the constraints of the road boundaries for avoiding the road irregularity; choosing an alternative path trajectory out of the plurality of alternative path trajectories that reduces the sprung-mass dynamics for the vehicle to provide a more comfortable ride; and updating the planned path with the chosen alternative path trajectory.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods, systems and computer readable storage medium for augmented rider identification and dynamic rerouting. The method includes presenting, by a processor, profile data associated with one or more potential passengers while a vehicle is en route to a passenger pickup location or at the passenger pickup location. The method further includes presenting, by the processor, image data obtained at the passenger pickup location. The method further includes comparing, by an occupant, the profile data and the obtained image data to confirm that the one or more potential passengers are at the passenger pickup location. The method further includes receiving, from the occupant, an entry input indicating that entry to the vehicle should or should not be allowed based on the comparison. The method further includes allowing or disallowing, by the processor, entry to the vehicle based on the received entry input.
