Abstract: An e-charger includes a shaft supported for rotation about an axis. The e-charger also includes a compressor wheel that is attached to the shaft. The e-charger further includes an electric motor configured to drive the shaft and the compressor wheel in rotation. Also, the e-charger includes a housing that houses the electric motor and at least part of the shaft. Moreover, the e-charger includes a dampening system incorporated in the housing and configured to dampen loads transferring through the housing. The dampening system includes at least one solid-state dampener that is resiliently flexible, and the dampening system includes at least one fluid viscous dampener.

Abstract: An e-charger includes a motor case that encases the motor and an outer housing that houses the motor case. The e-charger additionally includes a cooling system with passages cooperatively defined by the outer housing and the motor case. First and second longitudinal passages extend between the first and second ends of the motor, and a second longitudinal passage extends between the second and first ends of the motor. The end passage fluidly connects the first and second longitudinal passage. The cooling system is configured for directing flow of the coolant from the inlet, through the first longitudinal passage in a first longitudinal direction with respect to the axis, through the end passage, and back through the second longitudinal passage in a second longitudinal direction with respect to the axis.

Abstract: A compressor device includes a housing and a shaft supported for rotation within the housing. The compressor device includes a compressor section with a compressor wheel. Also, the compressor device includes a thrust suppression section with a chamber and a thrust balance body disposed within the chamber. Moreover, the compressor device includes a motor configured to drivingly rotate the shaft, the compressor wheel, and the thrust balance body. The thrust balance body divides the chamber into a first sub-chamber and a second sub-chamber. Additionally, the compressor device includes a bleed air system that fluidly connects the compressor section and the thrust suppression section. The bleed air system is configured to bleed air from the compressor section, through the first sub-chamber, to the second sub-chamber, pressurizing the first sub-chamber and generating a counterbalancing thrust load that counterbalances a compressor thrust load on the shaft.

Abstract: A compressor device includes a housing with a cavity. The compressor device includes a rotating group supported for rotation within the housing. The rotating group includes a shaft that supports a compressor wheel proximate a first end of the shaft. A second end of the shaft extends away from the compressor wheel through the cavity of the housing. The compressor device further includes a moisture evacuation system configured to remove airborne moisture from the compressor device. The moisture evacuation system includes a shaft passage extending through the second end of the shaft and a housing passage extending through an outer wall of the housing. The shaft passage is fluidly connected to the cavity. The housing passage is fluidly connected to the shaft passage. The moisture evacuation system is configured to direct the airborne moisture from the cavity, through the shaft passage, and out of the housing via the housing passage.

Abstract: A turbocharger includes a housing and a rotating group supported for rotation within the housing. The rotating group includes a compressor wheel disposed within a compressor section of the turbocharger, and the rotating group includes a turbine wheel disposed within a turbine section of the turbocharger. The turbine wheel includes a bleed pressure surface. The turbocharger further includes a bleed passage that extends at least partly through the housing to fluidly connect the compressor section to the turbine section. The bleed passage is configured to direct a bleed flow of fluid from the compressor section to the bleed pressure surface to supply a thrust counterbalance load to the bleed pressure surface.
