Abstract:
A system and method for deploying a network of wireless devices, including mobile terminals, wireless routers and a least one control console, within a three dimensional deployment area such as a building, so that communication, identification and position calculations of personnel, such as firefighters, using the mobile terminals can be achieved regardless of building structure. The wireless routers are deployed in a substantial vertical manner in staircases and elevator shafts of a building of interest, either in advance as part of a safety program or immediately upon arrival of firefighters or other team at the building during an emergency. The system and method according to the embodiment of the present invention described herein uses both TOF and RSSI between the mobile terminals and wireless routers to identify the floor numbers where firefighters are located and to track firefighter movements.

A consumables cartridge having a supply of a print medium having a pre-printed border, and an identification identifying the print medium with the pre-printed border, where the identification is readable by a printing device in which the consumables cartridge is installed.
Abstract:
A satellite signal distribution system distributes signal blocks of two different received frequencies and polarities simultaneously over the same cable. The satellite system includes a satellite dish or antenna that receives signals. These received signals are transmitted to a block frequency converter that enables the different frequency polarity blocks to be distributed simultaneously via a single cable. The cable is coupled to a head-out receiver processor which distributes the signals to satellite receivers. The receivers are connected to TVs or other sources. This unique design and configuration provides for a system that will permit satellite broadcast signal distribution to high-rise buildings, hospitals, condominiums, schools, and the like.
Abstract:
An integrated position and direction system is disclosed that includes a digital compass, a communication module, and a satellite positioning system having a receiver adapted to receive satellite position determining signals. Signals that are received from satellites are used to determine position of the integrated position and direction system. A method for updating data is disclosed in which the integrated position and direction system communicates with a remote site and sends a determined position to the remote site. A response is generated and is transmitted to the integrated position and direction system that includes data relating to features located near the determined position. The received data is used to generate a display that indicates the position and the orientation of the features relative to the integrated position and direction system.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, the structural joint includes a first structural member having a first mating face at one end of the first structural member, the first mating face having a two dimensional profile, a second structural member having a second mating face at one end of the second structural member and positioned proximate to the first mating face of the first structural member, the second mating face having a two dimensional profile that is similar to the two dimensional profile of the first mating face, a splice plate secured to the first structural member at the first mating face and removably secured to the second structural member at the second mating face, and fasteners that secure the splice plate to the first structural member and removably attach the splice plate to the second structural member.
Abstract:
Memory devices, such as DRAM memory devices, may include one or more metal layers above a local interconnect of the DRAM memory that make contact to lower gate regions of the memory device. As the size of semiconductor components decreases and circuit densities increase, the density of the metal routing in these upper metal layers becomes increasingly difficult to fabricate. By providing additional metal routing in the lower gate regions that may be coupled to the upper metal layers, the spacing requirements of the upper metal layers may be eased, while maintaining the size of the semiconductor device. In addition, the additional metal routing formed in the gate regions of the memory devices may be disposed parallel to other metal contacts in a strapping configuration, thus reducing a resistance of the metal contacts, such as buried digit lines of a DRAM memory cell.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing geographic location information to of at least one fixed reference device in a wireless network, the method comprising: determining a geographic location of the at least one fixed reference device within an image, such as a Geographic Information System (GIS) image, where the GIS image comprises a plurality of pixels each having an absolute geographic location value associated with it, and where the geographic location of the at least one fixed reference device is defined with respect to the absolute position values associated with at least one pixel that is proximal to an image of the at least one fixed reference device within the GIS image; and providing the determined geographic location information to the at least one fixed reference device.
Abstract:
An implantable device system for controlling the dimensions of internal anatomic passages corrects physiologic dysfunctions resulting from a structural lumen which is either too large or too small. Implantable devices are disclosed which employ various mechanisms for adjusting and maintaining the size of an orifice to which they are attached. Systems permit the implants to be implanted using minimally invasive procedures and permit final adjustments to the dimensions of the implants after the resumption of normal flow of anatomic fluids in situ.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and system for a piezoelectric pump wherein the piezoelectric elements is made from a fluid retention material that contains voids that are used to transport fluid from one element of the piezoelectric material to the next in a sequential fashion. The pump can include the use of a secondary fluid that is made to act upon the primary fluid through a piston or membrane.
Abstract:
Composition and process for treating aluminum, aluminum alloys and anodized aluminum substrates to improve the corrosion resistance and adhesive bonding strength of the aluminum substrates. The process comprises pre- or post-treating said aluminum with an acidic aqueous solution comprising, per liter of solution, from about 0.1 to 22 grams of at least one fluorometallate, about 0.1 gram up to the solubility limit of a water soluble cationic or divalent zinc compound and, optionally, effective amounts of water soluble thickeners and/or surfactants.
