Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (e.g., a millimeter WTRU (mWTRU)) may receive a first control channel using a first antenna pattern. The WTRU may receive a second control channel using a second antenna pattern. The WTRU may demodulate and decode the first control channel. The WTRU may demodulate and decode the second control channel. The WTRU may determine, using at least one of: the decoded first control channel or the second control channel, beam scheduling information associated with the WTRU and whether the WTRU is scheduled for an mmW segment. The WTRU may form a receive beam using the determined beam scheduling information. The WTRU receive the second control channel using the receive beam. The WTRU determine, by demodulating and decoding the second control channel, dynamic per-TTI scheduling information related to a data channel associated with the second control channel.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include one or more antennas and a first transceiver operatively coupled to the antennas. The one or more antennas and the first transceiver may be configured to receive a first signal from a network using zero energy from the WTRU. The one or more antennas and the first transceiver may be further configured to extract energy from the first signal. The first transceiver may be further configured to examine a separation between energy threshold events to decode an energy signature of the first signal. The first transceiver may be further configured to activate a second transceiver operatively coupled to the one or more antennas if the decoded energy signature matches a stored energy signature, wherein the second transceiver is powered by the WTRU. The one or more antennas and the second transceiver may be configured to receive a second signal from the network.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein that facilitate mesh network communication by a millimeter wave base stations (mBs) or WTRUs as nodes of a directional mesh network with other nodes of the directional mesh network. The mB or WTRU may include a directional antenna configured to transmit and receive signals in specific directions during the mesh network communication to define a directional mesh network. The mBs or WTRUs may transmit transmission request messages to neighbor nodes, wherein the transmission request messages include transmission slot allocation bitmaps and channel quality indicator information (CQI). Then response messages from the neighbor nodes may be received, wherein the response messages include receive slot allocation bitmaps and resource allocation decisions. The mBs or WTRUs may then update their transmission slot allocation bitmaps based on the received response messages and transmit data packets in specific directions based on the updated transmission slot allocation bitmap.

The S-REDS may further receive a second multi-relay channel measurement report from the first RDS of the one or more RDSs. The second multi-relay channel measurement report contains second channel measurement information associated with a channel between the first RDS of the one or more RDSs and a D-REDS.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for transmitting a relay search request frame from a source relay edge directional multigigabit (DMG) station STA (REDS) to the AP and receiving a relay search response frame including a list of at least a first and second relay DMG STA (RDS) in a wireless network. Systems and methods are further provided for transmitting over a first data stream through a direct link between the source REDS and the destination REDS, transmitting over a second data stream through the first RDS between the source REDS and the destination REDS, and transmitting over a third data stream through the second RDS between the source REDS and the destination REDS. Directional-band relay in wireless communications may be used in range extension where two wireless nodes may set up a relayed link without first forming a direct link between them.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are described. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes circuitry that determines transmission power levels associated with physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmissions over a plurality of uplink component carriers. On a condition that maximum power scaling is required, the circuitry prioritizes providing power to a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) over providing power to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) having uplink control information (UCI) and prioritize providing power to the PUCCH and PUSCH having UCI over a PUSCH not having UCI. The circuitry transmits the PUCCH, the PUSCH having UCI or at least one PUSCH not having UCI over the plurality of uplink component carriers.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for neighbor discovery in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A neighbor seeking wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may search for a first signal to discover neighbor WTRUs for peer-to-peer communication. The WTRU may then receive the first signal. Further, the WTRU may generate a report based on the received first signal. Then, the WTRU may send a second signal carrying the report to a cellular wireless network. The first signal may include a beacon for neighbor discovery or a synchronization signal or both. The report may contain at least one neighbor WTRU identity or at least a portion of a time value or both. Further, the report may contain a counter value, including at least a portion of a time value. The counter value may be based on a time source. In addition, the first signal may be received from a synchronization source.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving and performing mmW beam tracking is disclosed. Localization methods to improve prediction of the position of a WTRU are described, which may allow a millimeter wave base station (mB) to appropriately select a modified beam and to perform more efficient handover. WTRUs may report directional signal strength measurements to mBs, which may then be used to generate a directional radio environment map (DREM) for use in identifying secondary links to use when a primary link fails. Additional localization techniques using internal/external information for prediction are described. Historical data use and the use of data obtained from mB-mB cooperation including feedback information and reference signaling information are also described. Methods for beam tracking for directional relays and initial beam training optimization are described as well. Finally, WTRU localization precision improvement, beamwidth adaptation, and assisted beam tracking and handover methods are also described.
