    摘要: A heat recovery device is disclosed which is adapted for use in the drain conduit of standard shower installations having a hot water line, a cold water line, means for mixing water from both lines to deliver water at a suitable temperature to a shower head, and a drain conduit for disposing of waste water passing through the shower installation, the heat recovery device transferring heat from the waste water to cold water flowing to the cold water line. The heat recovery device has a first conduit connected into the drain conduit of the shower installation, and a second conduit connected into the cold water line leading into the shower installation and either wrapped around or inserted within the first conduit so that the second conduit is in operative heat transfer relationship with warm waste water passing through the first conduit, so that the incoming cold water is preheated by heat recovered from the waste water and transferred to the cold water.

The side wall has an upper portion that is substantially thicker than the remaining portion of the side wall to provide floation for the holding device, and a weight is suitably secured to the bottom of the holding device to proide sufficient stability that the device holds a beverage container upright both when immersed in water so that neither will beverage spill from the container nor will water get into the container to contaminate the beverage, and when the device is placed on a dry surface.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed which is a tape feeding, cutting and ejecting apparatus for a mailing machine which has a feed deck for envelopees and a postage meter for printing postage indicia on successive envelopees as they are fed along the feed deck. The tape feeding, cutting and ejecting apparatus is mounted in the mailing machine above the feed deck and adjacent to the postage meter on the side thereof opposite to the direction of the feed of envelopees for feeding successive finite lengths of tape to the postage meter for printing of postage indicia on a portion thereof and for cutting and ejecting the printed portion of the finite lengths of tape from the mailing machine. The apparatus includes separate drive mechanism for feeding the tape toward the postage meter and for ejecting the severed portion of the tape from the mailing machine, and the drive mechanism for the latter functions also controls the operation of a rotary knife for severing the tape in timed relationship to the feed of the printed tape away from the postage meter.

    摘要: A mailing machine base comprising, structure for a direction of the path of travel and feeding a sheet in a path of travel, a fence defining against which the an edge of a sheet is normally registered for alignment therewith and thus in the direction of the path of travel, structure for controlling the sheet feeding structure, the controlling structure including a microprocessor connected to the sheet feeding structure, the controlling structure including structure for sensing a sheet fed into and out of blocking relationship with the sensing structure and providing a corresponding signal to the microprocessor, the signal having a first magnitude when a sheet is not disposed in blocking relationship with the sensing structure, the signal having a second magnitude when a sheet is disposed in blocking relationship with the sensing structure, the signal having a variable magnitude between the first and second magnitudes for less than a predetermined time interval when a sheet is fed into blocking relationship with the sensing structure and the sheet edge is in alignment with the registration fence, and the signal having a variable magnitude between the first and second magnitudes for at least the predetermined time interval when a sheet is fed out of blocking relationship with the sensing structure and the sheet edge is not in alignment with the registration fence; and the microprocessor programmed for successively alternately obtaining a sample of the magnitude of the signal and delaying sampling thereof for the predetermined time interval, determining whether the magnitudes of any two successive samples are both between the first and second magnitudes, and causing implementation of a shut-down routine if the magnitudes of any two successive samples are both between the first and second magnitudes.

    摘要: An airway valve for re-breathing, a ventilator circuit including same and a method of operating the airway valve. The airway valve includes a housing having first and second primary passages extending through the wall thereof and mutually directly communicating within the housing through a spring-biased valve assembly in the form of first and second diaphragms respectively and simultaneously movable in tandem within the housing into and out of contact with first and second valve seats on a valve body with which the first primary passage communicates. The valve assembly also controls diversion of air flow between the first primary passage and the second primary passage into and through an enlarged volume defined by a re-breathing loop external to the housing via first and second diversion passages, which also extend through the wall of the housing. In a normal operating mode of the airway valve, a first diaphragm engages the first valve seat to preclude communication between the first primary passage and the first diversion passage, while the second diaphragm remains out of contact with the second valve seat to permit communication within the housing between the first and second primary passages and directing air flow therethrough. In a re-breathing mode of the airway valve, the second diaphragm contacts the second valve seat to preclude direct communication between the first and second primary passages, while withdrawal of the first diaphragm from the first valve seat opens communication between the first primary passage and the first diversion passage routing air flow through the re-breathing loop and back to the interior of the housing via the second diversion passage, which is in communication with the second primary passage. The diaphragms are spring-biased to the normal operating mode of the valve, and moved to the re-breathing mode by application of a differential air pressure to one of the diaphragms to overcome the spring force.
