    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perforating pin and equipment for perforation with which an accurate piercing region and piercing direction of a guiding pin can be easily specified at the neck of the femur or its surroundings and an advancing situation of the perforating pin can be confirmed when the perforating pin is pierced.SOLUTION: The guide 1 for the perforating pin includes a main body section 2 which is equipped with a contacting section 8, a guiding channel 3 for the perforating pin and an operation section 9, a first advancing direction of the perforating pin displaying section 5 with which the advancing direction of the perforating pin 10 inserted in the guiding channel 3 can be confirmed by X-ray fluoroscopy, and a second advancing direction of the perforating pin displaying section 6 with which the advancing direction of the perforating pin 10 inserted in the guiding channel 3 can be confirmed by X-ray fluoroscopy from the different direction than the first advancing direction of the perforating pin displaying section 5. The bone perforating pin 10 can be confirmed by X-ray fluoroscopy with the first and the second advancing direction of the perforating pin displaying sections 5 and 6 while the perforating pin 10 inserted in the guiding channel 3 is superimposed on the displaying sections 5 and 6.

    摘要: A fixation device for reduction and fixation of fractures of the talus bone of the foot includes a thin titanium alloy plate having a lower wing configured for attachment to the lateral aspect of the talus and an upper wing configured for attachment to the dorsal aspect of the talus. The plate includes a substantially perpendicular or right angle bend between the lower and upper wings. In one embodiment, each wing includes three screw holes arranged in a generally triangular pattern. Two holes on each plate are situated in tabs and the center of the plate has a reduced width so that the plate presents a minimal profile. One of the tabs on the upper wing is bent away from the lower wing at a pre-determined angle so that the wing conforms to the shape of the talus. In an alternative embodiment, the upper wing includes a step portion between the lower wing and the bent tab and carrying one screw hole. In this embodiment, the bent tab is generally elongated with one or two screw holes disposed along its length.

    摘要: A fixation device for reduction of bone segments of the metatarsus comprises a fixation plate that is sized and configured to generally conform to the shaft of the metatarsus between the head and base. The plate includes a head end that is wider than the base end, with curved side edges that gradually taper between the two ends and produce a necked-down portion between the two ends that narrower than either end. The profile of the plate is further reduced by curving the plate across its width and along the entire length of the plate and by forming the plate at a minimal thickness of about 0.9 mm. The plate is provided with a plurality of screw holes staggered across the length and width of the plate. In the preferred embodiment, two screw holes are provided at each end and a group of four screws are provided adjacent each of the side edges. The screws holes are staggered to avoid conflict of the screws within the bone regardless of how many screws are used to secure the plate to the bone.

    摘要: An intramedullary nail structure is formed with opposing dynamization windows, and spacers of a bioresorable material are positioned within the dynamization windows. The dynamization windows are longer than they are wide. The spacers may be integrally formed as a single insert. Tale nail is used with a bone fastener such as a bone screw which is advanced transversely through the bone and into the spacer, preferably in a bicortical attachment with the bone. The bone fastener is smaller across than the dynamization windows, so each spacer spaces the bone fastener relative to its dynamization window. As the spacers resorb, stress (at least in one direction) is increasingly transmitted through the fracture site rather than through the intramedullary nail. The positioning of the bone fastener, the shape and size of the dynamization windows and spacers, and the material of the spacers all allow design control over the type and amount of dynamization seen at the fracture site. Also, because the bone fastener is smallel across than the dynamization windows and spacers, a larger error in placement of the bone fastener is permissible.

    摘要: A bone screw apparatus and method of implantation provides a bone screw having an elongated shaft of an oversized length with proximal and distal end portions. The distal end portion of the shaft has a cutting head. The proximal end portion of the shaft is sized and shaped to accept a driver tool, such as a drill chuck. The shaft is externally threaded along a majority of its length. A pair of opposed longitudinally extending circumferentially spaced flat surfaces are provided along the shaft. A removable head with a central opening enables the head to slide along the shaft proximally to distally. A ratcheting mechanism prevents movement of the head along the shaft in but one direction. A central opening of the head is shaped to conform to the shaped surfaces of the shaft, so that the head and shaft can be rotated as a unit by engaging and rotating the head. The tool receptive surface portion of the head includes intersecting external surfaces of the head spaced radially away from the shaft during use.

    摘要: A minimally invasive reaming assembly for creating an entry portal into the canal of a bone and for providing a working channel in which to ream the canal of a bone. The assembly includes a sleeve, a housing and an inner reamer. The sleeve is an elongated cylindrically-shaped hollow sleeve that has a proximal and a distal end, with the distal end having a plurality of cutting blades. The housing is attached to the sleeve and is generally cylindrical in shape and it has a top portion, a bottom portion and a through bore. The top portion includes a releaseable locking mechanism for engaging the inner reamer within the housing. The inner reamer has an elongated cannulated body and proximal and distal ends. The distal end has a rotatable reaming head and the proximal end has a drill shaft and a connector for connection to a drill. A portion of the body includes an annular collar with a tab for engaging a notch in the housing. The reamer is sized and shaped for insertion through the bore of the housing and the sleeve. The reaming assembly is configured to create an entry portal into the canal of a bone and to provide a working channel in which a plurality of reamers of graduated sizes are inserted for progressively reaming the canal of a bone.

    摘要: A connecting element having end regions (22, 23) joined by an intermediate by an intermediate region (26) is constructed of a plurality of fibre filaments extending longitudinally and continuously throughout its length. The fibers in the end regions are embedded in a thermo-setting resin matrix material and the fibres in the intermediate region are embedded in a resilient matrix material thereby permitting relative resilient torsional movement of the end regions about a longitudinal axis. Such a connecting element is particularly suited for use in a helicopter rotor and several embodiments are described and illustrated. In all embodiments the torsional flexibility of intermediate region (26) provides for blade feathering movements and in a preferred embodiment the inner end region (22) is constructed so as to be resiliently flexible in a blade flap plane and the outer end region (23) is constructed so as to be equally resiliently flexible in the blade flap and lead/lag planes.
